Meet Krysti Litt | Artist and Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krysti Litt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krysti, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a creative person, I have always craved the freedom to manage my own time and resources to when I am feeling inspired. The flip side of that coin though, is that the only person keeping you accountable is YOU. No one’s looking over your shoulder, you have to set your own deadlines and goals. It’s a constant learning process!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been an oil painter for most of my life, but dove head in to mixed media artwork over the last few years. My Etsy site is mostly dedicated to my “button art”, which is highly textured and colorful.
I love making artwork that you just want to reach out and touch, that makes you have a double take on what it’s made of, that allows you to discover new things about it every time you look at it with fresh eyes.
It’s not been an entirely easy path. The reception I’ve gotten has been wonderful, but my work doesn’t translate completely to photos. It’s hard to see all of the detail In a two dimensional photograph, so I’m still troubleshooting how to overcome that. I am beyond grateful for all of the great reviews I’ve received, it makes my heart so happy that people enjoy something I’ve made so much.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Once everything gets a little closer to normal post-pandemic, I would love to take my best friend around the city! I’m a sucker for the Getty Museum, no matter how many times I’ve been, and I love that you have to take the tram that overlooks the city just to reach the top. The Sherman Oaks Street Fair would be fun, and afterward I would have to take her to my favorite L.A. find, Cereal Bar, on Burbank Blvd and Woodman Ave. Anyone who mixes my favorite cereal into handmade ice cream has my heart!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to take a moment to thank my husband Christian. Especially during this past year with the pandemic, he has given me strength and determination to push myself, to try harder things, to think bigger. It has been incredibly hard recently to feel motivation in the middle of being isolated from your loved ones and friends, and he gave me the push I needed to keep going, keep creating.
