We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyla Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyla, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since I was a kid, I was just drawn to the arts, from jamming out to Whitney Houston on the radio and obsessing over movies like Annie and Little Shop of Horrors. I had these big dreams back then – I wanted to be a teacher, a singer, a wife, a mom, and even run my own beauty shop (which, by the way, my bathroom cabinet totally resembles!).

Being an only child, I spent hours lost in a world of creativity. I started dancing at the age of three, and by eight I was singing in the school choir. I would spend hours creating storylines with my collection of Barbies too!

Looking back, every twist and turn in my life has led me closer to where I am now. Today, I’m doing what I love as an Executive in the Arts with the San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus, teaching voice lessons in my private studio, performing around Los Angeles, raising two amazing kids, and building a life with my husband, actor Jim Titus.

Honestly, music has always been a huge part of my life. They’re not just something I do – it’s a passion I can’t imagine living without.

What should our readers know about your business?
Well, let me tell you about the San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus – it’s my pride and joy. I’m honored to serve as its first-ever Executive Director!

This is my second season, and I couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come, especially considering the challenges of rebuilding post-COVID. But hey, challenges only make success sweeter!

What sets us apart? Well, for starters, we’re not just a chorus. We’re a family. A family where everyone, regardless of their background, financial situation, or experience, is welcomed with open arms. No one gets turned away if they’ve got a passion for music and singing – that’s our mantra.

Sure, navigating this post-COVID world hasn’t been a walk in the park. Not everyone’s ready to step out of their comfort zones just yet. But you know what? We’re here, we’re growing, and we’re determined to spread our love for music far and wide.

I’ve learned a lot along the way. Patience, resilience, and the power of community – those are the big ones. And if there’s one thing I want the world to know about us, it’s this: we’re not just building a chorus, we’re building a legacy. A legacy of music, passion, and inclusivity. Be sure to give us a like and follow on social media and save the date, May 18th, 11am for our Spring Concert at the newly renovated Taxco Theater in Canoga Park!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now, let me preface this by saying I’m a bit of a homebody, but when it’s time to have a good time with great people, I’m all in!

First things first – we’re diving headfirst into LA’s food scene.
There’s no better way to start than with some delicious Mexican food. I love the food and ambience at Casita Del Campo in Silver Lake but I would make sure we hit up a local food truck too!

Now, onto the touristy stuff! We’ll drive down to Hollywood to visit the Walk of Fame, snapping pics with the stars, and checking out the hand and footprints in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater. It’s cheesy, it’s iconic, and it’s gonna make for some photos! Depending on the time of year I’d love to take them to the Hollywood Bowl too!

I love it when guests are in town because it gives me the excuse to go to Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles!! I mean, crispy chicken, and fluffy waffles, all smothered in syrup. Enough said.

I love the beauty of CA. I love taking guests on a cruise along the Pacific Coast Highway, and on the way back home to the SFV, we’ll take a scenic drive through the canyons, soaking in those breathtaking views.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this to my late mother Joanne Marie Page. She was my biggest fan. Always there, at every performance, with a huge smile on her face. She exposed me to so much as a child, giving me every opportunity to find my passion and then supporting it 1,000%. I love her forever and miss her dearly.
