Meet Laine Allen | Global EFT Practitioner & Body Acceptance Coach.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laine Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laine, how does your business help the community?
Could you imagine walking into a room filled with 100 women you admire and love, knowing that at least 80 of them want to change the way their body looks? When a negative body image erodes a woman’s self-esteem, it can inhibit her from engaging fully in life. This not only affects her relationship with herself but also significantly impacts her interactions with partners, children, social circles, and even her performance in the workplace, disengaging her from community.
When a woman decides to transform her body, two ingrained (and often lonely) lifestyle changes typically come to mind: diet and exercise. Despite the diet industry’s staggering worth of over $60 billion, a frightening 95% of diets end in failure. So, ask yourself ‘Why do women persistently invest in an approach that repeatedly proves ineffective?’
On one extreme, we grapple with cauldron of self-hate intensified by a dash of self-loathing, while on the other end of the spectrum, we face an expanding wellness culture steeped in a potentially harmful interpretation of #bopo vibes that make we want to cry into a bowl of ice cream.
The mission of my work is to inspire and educate women on the impacts of their own body acceptance within a supportive community using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or ‘tapping’).
One of the common misconceptions is that people dismiss Emotional Freedom Techniques as pseudoscience because of its alternative approach, ‘it’s just tapping on parts of your body, right?’ *ERROR BUZZER GOING OFF*. There is a growing body of research supporting the effectiveness of EFT in reducing stress, anxiety, and other emotional issues with a load of evidence to support its effectiveness.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After an eight-year career working for a government not-for-profit & a global pandemic, I was forced to reassess my values and say ‘later gator’ to the grind in June 2022. During that time I was studying with the Australian Tapping Institute to become a certified EFT practitioner & Life Coach. I made the decision to walk away from a secure, high paying, corporate career to follow my heart & see if I could really role model the life I wanted, rather than dream about it from behind a desk.
Don’t get me wrong, it has been hard. H-A-R-D. Nothing in life comes easy to multi-passionate creatives in my opinion. We always want the work we put out there to be a catalyst for someone’s inspiration, to be life-changing, standing ovation worthy and we tend to beat ourselves up when the outcome isn’t expected, or other people just don’t get what we’re trying to do.
I’m in a place right now where I am trying to shake the women around me out of a toxic culture of diet, exercise and body image issues because the liberation on the other side is life giving – but it’s so engrained into our identity of being a woman, always striving for thinness that it’s almost impossible for them to see any other alternative. Women are like ‘Wait, what? I don’t have to diet anymore?’ ‘What do you mean I can accept my body?’ – YES, MY ODDIE BODY HONEY PIE! YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN!
But like any change we want to see in this world, is starts with us. That being, it also starts with me. That is something to celebrate & be proud of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in a beautiful community toward the northern end of the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne. I never thought I would live so far away from the heart of Melbourne but here I am! And aside from the cold, I absolutely love the community here.
There’s a café called Harrow & Harvest which is so divine. It’s in an old church that’s been converted to a cosy hideaway, covered in pink gingham, candles & flowers, with some of the best coffee and food in the area. Not only that, but the retail they stock within the café also support women in business which is something to admire!
If I’m not at home, or the café, you’ll find me at Aktivate yoga studio. It’s my second home. The teachers there are so talented and knowledgeable. They bring a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to every session from reiki to sound bowls to meditation & yin. That studio has helped me heal so many layers of my body acceptance issues, they will never know!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Angel Phoenix took a chance on me in 2022 which cracked me open like an egg & completely turned my life around. Before entering her orbit, I was a shell of a human, not really knowing how to express myself, my passions, my creativity in a way for the world to see. Angel’s authenticity, dedication to her work (in all fields) & her messaging has been a driving force in giving me & other women permission to take up space.
This have been pivotal to my journey in unpacking where I belong in the EFT world & everything I do!
