We had the good fortune of connecting with Lani Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lani, how do you think about risk?
How do you think about risk? Take them! I genuinely believe taking risks is essential. Whether in love, in business, your career, or in life, it’s necessary to transform our perspective on risk-taking. It strengthens our brain, heightens our senses, and takes us out of our comfort zone. I have found everything worthwhile is on the other side of our comfort zone. In business, I feel if you don’t embrace risk-taking, you may need to reconsider being a business owner! To build something new, you have to be prepared to do something different. We are more adaptable than we give ourselves credit for and by putting in the work and taking the chance, we give ourselves permission to be the (pro)active force in our lives! What role has taking risks played in your life/career? Without reaching out for that window of opportunity, I wouldn’t be myself. I have become an expert at bouncing back. I am passionate about pushing boundaries and playing my part in moving humanity forward, one transformation at a time. This is what inspired me to create MOBOT. The most important part was believing that the risk was worth the reward; to positively impact others, care for the environment and ultimately transform lives. Remember, success is the journey. Live courageously, take risks and turn dreams into reality!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. Our multi-functional products combine innovative design with eco-friendly materials creating a product designed for better health and a cleaner environment. Our solutions provide people with tangible motivation and the ability to experience top-notch wellness whilst reducing environmental impact – you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it! We’re leading by example through our patented products which are made from eco-friendly materials, and by educating our customers and community on how to live more sustainably. We also support the movement to ban single-use plastic and replace this unhealthy habit with reusables. What I’m most excited about at the moment is the launch of our new collaboration with Nordstrom and our equity crowdfunding campaign on Start Engine. For a limited time, anyone can invest in our mission-driven startup through Start Engine! If you’re reading this you have been a part of MOBOT’s journey, we would love to have you join our community of like-minded investors too. How did you get to where you are today business-wise? High levels of grit, patience, passion, perseverance, and collaboration. I am mission-driven and genuinely feel that has helped me endure more because doing it just for the money isn’t enough for me. If we aren’t able to have a positive impact and create a better world, in my opinion, it’s a waste of resources. I set a very strong intention and stuck to my values. That may sound easier said than done, but I highly recommend mapping out your ‘non-negotiables’ and sticking to them, to ensure you follow through on your mission. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? No, it was far from easy. I took risks and learned to bounce back from failure which has also strengthened my relationship with myself, my purpose, and my mission. I trained myself to become a deliberate thinker; I’m constantly checking in and course-correcting so I stay on track and aware of who I really am and what I really want. In my opinion, owning a business means committing to a lifetime of challenges. It gets bumpy along the journey, so you want to ensure you have systems or measures in place that can help you stay on track. I try to think on purpose, speak on purpose, act on purpose and have intention with what I do. What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? Almost everything in life is about how you recover! You take a risk, you learn and you put that in your toolbox for next time. From cooking, to dating, to sports and career, it’s all about how you recover. Life is precious. Don’t waste time, and don’t waste anyone else’s precious time. On the contrary, I hope to inspire more people to follow their dreams. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? Our mission is to contribute to creating a better world, by design, and build a business that is sustainable, empowering and has the longevity to alleviate pain – mind, body, and planet. MOBOT is a brand that represents wellness, recovery, and performance culture. We embrace the spirit of individuality in our own unique way, creating products and experiences for change-makers. We want to enable people to be the best versions of themselves and take care of the planet. The great thing about our products is you don’t have to be injured to benefit from them! We are still reaching our early adopters, and look forward to reaching more people so we can help enhance healthy habits and performance for everybody.
