We had the good fortune of connecting with Lara Jean Sullivan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lara Jean, how do you think about risk?
Risks. Good risks, have great outcomes. In my line of work, risk taking occurs almost every day. Whether that be to dive deeper into a character. Jump higher in a dance. Audition for a role you might feel doesn’t suit you. These are all little risks that play a huge part in growing my career. There are so many roles I have gotten in dance shows or films, all because I just said, why not, and went for it. I am 5ft tall, so if I always went by the description, I would never be able to audition for anything. I have to take that risk and go for it, and honestly, 75% percent of the time, I get the part. You can’t judge yourself, to the point where you hold back from taking those risks needed to get the job.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you want to splurge, stay at the Hilton Universal. If you are a buffet lover, they have a buffet that’s to die for, plus you are walking distance from the universal City Walk that has amazing shops, restaurants, and bars. If you love Star Wars and Kevin Smith hit up the best hang out spot in town, Scum & Villainy Cantina. You won’t be disappointed. Pig’n Whistle is also a nice, and casual spot. You can walk in, get some nachos and beer, but also get a nice drink made from awesome bartenders. Some nights they have live music as well. If you know a magician, then get an invite and head over to the Magic Castle. It is amazing. They have an amazing dinner and different shows every night. If you like burlesque, hit up Britannia Pub in Santa Monica after a day at the Santa Monica Pier on a Monday night and you wont be disappointed. I used to perform with the Dollface Dames, and sometimes will pop up for a guest appearance. It is lots of fun. They also have karaoke nights! Being by the ocean its an amazing spot to hang out! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out to those that took risks on me as an artist. Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri, Chris Henry, Jeremy Miller, Hunter Johnson, Monte Light, Mark Miller, Karen Mangiacotti, Andretti Dante, Alex Hwang, Tiffanie Kalisz, Jessica Rae, and Rae Agency. Thank you for all your love and support. Without you I wouldn’t be where I am today.
