We had the good fortune of connecting with Latifah Bucknor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latifah, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
What we do helps alleviate people’s physical pain—relieving their tension and relaxing them mentally. We’ve been able to socially impact change through educating our clients after each service spreading the importance of massage/wellness into their daily living, not only through the services but in professional products and aftercare.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey practicing massage has been pretty rewarding. Having to stay up to date taking different classes for continued education helps keep me inspired. It’s the perfect opportunity to add to your services while bringing something fresh to your clients.
My main focus this year is building business credit and finding balance in being a wife, mom, and business owner. Also, finding the perfect space to call home for my business, allowing me to purchase a vehicle for the company.
It has taken me 16 years to get where I am now—my first two years in massage school in 2003, graduating in 2005 with an Associates’ degree in Science for Massage Therapy. Afterward, working for companies like Massage Envy, Massage Heights, a chiropractic office, and lastly, the spa I’d been at for the last six years. I took the MBLEX in 2013 and continue my education with 24 state credit hours every two years since 2007.
Being able to vent to my husband, developing patience in all areas, and doing self-work have helped me overcome many challenges. I’ve learned changes force you to decide an outcome. Find a solution quickly instead of sulking about failed attempts—stand firm in my decisions instead of being afraid. Also, to remember me and my health while helping others.
We’d want the world to know that our brand suggests investing in your mental, physical and emotional health & wellness is the best thing you can do at this time. We are reclaiming our time, feeling the excellent benefits of regular monthly sessions, and understanding how massage assists in pain retention, improving your days.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m such a foodie, so most of my spots will consist of Good eats, lol. We could start with the Atlanta Breakfast Club or First Watch for more healthy options, a family favorite. Another broken egg is another healthy family favorite as well. Moving on to lunch/ brunch options, I recently went to BQE, and I must say the food, drinks, music, and energy was great, but the wait time, not so much. Rays on the River is a classy brunch served buffet style. Negril Village is an ultimate favorite with their freshly made pineapple waffle and Jerk chicken. Atlantic station for entertainment and shopping, a nice walk around Piedmont Park for the fresh air, Cam Newton’s cigar lounge is pretty swanky with great food. Ponce City Market is beautiful, with both indoor/outdoor factors best utilized for the mini carnival on the top roof level overlooking the city. Pre- Covid Sweet Georgia Juke Joint was a nice place to go, hear live music, have great drinks, and excellent southern food. Being raised in Houston made me a huge Mexican food and Bbq person, so I cannot leave out Hattie Marie’s Texas-style bbq and the Mexican food trucks; omg, they will always have authentic tacos the best.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say my husband, Darius he’s such an inspiration. His positive attitude is a breath of fresh air even when I don’t want to listen to it, lol. It’s also amazing to have someone around that understands what I’m going through as an entrepreneur himself.
