Meet laura currens | pelvic floor physical therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with laura currens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi laura, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Dynamic Flow Physical Therapy to offer high quality care to those struggling with birth injuries, pelvic health concerns, and pelvic pain. I wanted to create a calm environment where we can truly treat holistically, from head to toe, and address all factors involved to get true long lasting results. After having a hard recovery with the birth of my first daughter 6 years ago I was on a mission to fix myself and get back to all my activities without annoying symptoms like stress incontinence and tailbone pain. I became super passionate about pelvic health and helping those who were suffering overcome these challenges. I had started a pelvic floor program at my prior employer an outpatient PT clinic but got burnt out seeing 15+ patients a day, and only getting 23–25 minutes with my patients and knew I needed to create an environment where I can truly help people, and feel proud of the work I was accomplishing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a physical therapy clinic that specializes in pelvic health related issues. We are a super passionate clinic, determined to help our patients recover from birth injuries, postpartum recovery, pregnancy related pain, chronic pelvic pain, leakage, low back pain, hip pain, and pain with intercourse. Our goal is to be able to address these issues holistically, from head to toe, and address all aspects so we could obtain the best results and get people back to their goals! We love to bridge the gap back to sports and high level activities from pelvic related issues, so people can get back to an active lifestyle without embarrassing leakage, pain, or restrictions. We are excited to continue to grow so we can help more and more people with these issues, and overcome myths of “this is the new you”. After struggling with my own birth injuries after the birth of my first daughter I became obsessed with learning all about pelvic health and adding the specialty to my sport orthopedic background of 13+ years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting I would take them surfing in Ventura, do beach time, or go hiking up in the Ojai hills! We are surrounded by so much to do out in nature in Ventura/Ojai! If we had a week I would take them up to Rose Valley backpacking if spring/fall, or up highway 1 camping if summertime to the central coast.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I credit my husband who is my biggest fan and also my administrator/designer/
