We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Arnal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started my career I never said no to staying late or coming in early for a client. I did anything to make sure I was going to have a successful busy business. I always was afraid if I took any time off I would loose my clients. I now am in a place where I actually take days off and have realized I have to take time away from work to be a better business owner and be the best I can be for my clients and also for my family. It’s so important to have a good balance.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I could do blonding work all day everyday. That is definitely where my passion lies. I have taken classes to become a certified blonding artist. It’s a lot about foil placement and where you want to see the lighter pieces and dimension. Making mistakes along the way has helped me to learn and grow to be where I am today. Never giving up even when your not getting the result you hoped for and going back to basics try not to over complicate.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You would find me at the beach. I love heading into Ventura and walking the pier, Main Street. Love all the breweries down there. Heading into Carpinteria to eat at Padero grill and ordering the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Love going into Santa Barbara for some fun shops and love eating at the Sandbar for some yummy margaritas and Mexican food. Then heading more north into wine country. I love camping down in carp and Refugio.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t be where I am without the support of my family. To my mom and husband for doing extra hours with my daughters so I could be dedicated to building my business. Also to my family at Cleo Hair salon. The support from them, all the education they provided me to learn and grow.
