We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Black and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?

When it comes to this question, how do you know when to give up or keep going?

well TRY it. Try to Give up.
If it’s easy for you to give up and you can actually DO IT, then what your fighting isn’t strong enough, you don’t want it enough, or maybe it isn’t truly your passion. Because if it is, and you really want it, when you give it up, or you stop trying, there will be that inner voice within you that won’t let fully you give up. We all have “Funks” that’s temporary, but if what your fighting for is real and strong enough, your soul will get back up and continue the fight. You will just know.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Acting, writing, producing, comedy, anything in the arts is my passion and what I pursue everyday.

I enjoy making people laugh, turning pain into something beautiful. I love telling a story and before I tell the story I live with the person I am “portraying” internally. I speak to this person and this person or shall I say “Character” speaks to me back. That is when I know, I can tell this story in the way it needs to be told.

What I am most proud of is I’m nothing like my family or what I was raised around. You know what I saw? Addicts, I saw poverty, abandonment, I saw no one ever pursue their hopes and dreams. I watched drugs and alcohol take my whole family out. Now me? I wanted something more. I wanted to break the cycle. I’m proud that I am out here doing it when everyone said I couldn’t.

I got to where I am because I always believed I can do anything and I never gave up. I am fearless because I had already fought for my life when I was born. I had numerous heart surgeries at birth. In and out of hospitals through childhood, what’s more scary than that? I don’t fear life, I was born in this life fighting for my life. I have a short time here, and I didn’t come here for no bullshit. I have a purpose , I have dream, I have a goal and I am here to win. I left at sixteen, graduated high school surprisingly, started acting and never looked back.

I overcame a lot by never complaining, always find a solution, and figuring it out. Also keeping a close relationship with god. I got though alcoholism, sexual assaults, depression, and more by just hanging on to that little peace of hope that one day after the storm the rain will stop and the flowers will fucking bloom.

Right now I am about to graduate the Meisner acting program

My films I created, “Escaping The Game”, “Horrific High”, and more are doing great with high streaming on ROKU and AMAZON PRIME on Scenes Plus prime time

My Films have been screened around the bay area

My Films have won film festivals

I have wrapped some awesome commercials, and movies

I am booking comedy shows

I am still writing and creating more future films

I am spreading love and positive to all my fellow human beings everyday.

I am blessed.

Lessons I learned:

It does not matter how pretty you are, or how much money you make, or how much talent you have. You must first be a GOOD PERSON and do GOOD THINGS.

Don’t tell your big dreams to small minds they will tell you that you CANT that’s only because they CANT – THERE IS NO LIMITS TO YOUR CAPABILITIES THERE IS NO LIVING HUMAN WHO CAN TELL YOU THAT YOU CANT DO SOMETHING

My brand in film is the tough emotionally traumatized girl so think “Victim” or boss evil perpetrator, strong woman who will fight crimes. – something like that

and my films are usually based on real life so either something that can happen or did happen. I also like to make comedies and make them a little extra. I want people to watch my movies and know that real life is not a fairy tail but there is always a rainbow at the end of the tunnel.

I learned that in order to live your happiest life you must not give a FUCK what people think about you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I love to meet new people and try new things!

If I was with a friend I would say “let’s go somewhere we never been, order something we never had” even if it’s weird. I am always up for exploring some nice new nature spots, hit the beach, talk to random people, make random friends. I love to do something stupid, and silly, something I can laugh at for years.
