We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
This is a great question. Since beginning my online content creation journey I’ve grown so much.
At first I was just creating because I wanted to have a creative outlet but as a content creator who focuses on fashion and who has now seen how detrimental fast fashion can be, to our earth and our communities, I’ve tried to strive to make more conscious decisions and educate others who follow me and are interested as well.
People have noticed that and I think when people see that you really have a passion and authenticity behind your content they feel connected to you and really want to support you as an artist.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So for me especially jumping into the cottagecore/sustainable lifestyle was something that I’d always wanted to do but just wasn’t sure how.
Honestly, facebooks gardening groups and the whole community surrounding cottagecore/sustainable living on Instagram as well has been a godsend.
There have definitely been nights I was up burning the midnight oil researching a video or post to educate people. It was definitely not easy and I still have so much to learn, but I truly appreciate how welcoming everyone is.
This job is not for the faint of heart. For a little over a year now I’ve been content creating daily. “Block days” where I create multiple videos/photos has been absolutely necessary because burnout is real!
I just want others to know this lifestyle can be attainable, it’s not rigid, you don’t have to fully go off the grid or live on a farm, but little changes are totally doable.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
100% it’s my husband.
Without him I really wouldn’t be where I am today.
We have two little ones and home and sometimes I’ll need his help for a shoot or to just preoccupy them for a bit so I can edit or get emails out.
He is so supportive and is always trying to think of new ways for me to engage my followers. He also forces me to take a break when he sees I’m doing too much and I can’t thank him enough for just being my rock.
