We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Tallman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, how do you think about risk?
I took risks in living in another country for 33 years and going through three wars. I learned to be stronger than I thought I could be while making a home and raising a family. When others asked, “How do you do it?” I realized my reach was farther than others, in thought, and actions. I could ‘shake things up’ and excite people with the things I’d seen and done. When I found my forte in writing was erotica, it made me reach out to people and give them the pleasure that they sought but were too afraid to speak about. And my writing was warm yet intense which surprised me most of all.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I write erotica. This is writing something warm, tingling, even informative on many levels. I love bringing the reader into the picture, feeling the intensity, while using phrasing that entices rather than slapping the reader. Writing ‘Harem Of The Dragon’ was the easy part – marketing and selling was a new world. I learned to meet people, sell myself as well as my books and stories. Again, it was bringing them into my warm, erotic world.
My ‘How To Have An Affair And Not Get Caught’ book sells well online but I had to contend with buyers who were exciting and entranced by it but did not buy. They would be with a friend, wife, husband, friend, stood at their side. This took loads of online marketing.
I had to learn my market. Separating the people who expected porn but found it was simply good writing. Also, the affair book is searched out by (sorry to say this) the intellects, doctors, lawyers, and such.
I want the world to know that my world is fascinating. You enter into ancient China, you fear the Emperor, you visualize what these girls had to learn to entice the Emperor, and mostly, the young man who learned and became Chief Eunuch of the Harem.
Erotica is a world that makes you breathe hard yet makes you warm and willing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
At night, cross over Route 11 on Horizon Drive and get onto Horizon Ridge. Drive north, parallel to Route 11. You’ll be climbing the highway and as you descend, you have a breathtaking view of a good part of the city. The Bellagio fountains are a must, for the music, magnificence of the water display, and you can grasp some humidity. Then walk the Strip, explaining the different structures (Luxor is the only structure of its kind), NYNY’s inner park is a take-off of Central Park, Paris ditto of a park and has great ‘street’ crepes, hear arias sung while dining at The Venetian, spend a day or two at Resorts World, and of course Downtown hotels). We would have to try Mexican foods, go line dancing at Stoney’s, drive out to Mount Charleston and watch the stars come out at night, shows in hotels and at The Smith Center (great Art Deco design).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Erotic Writers Group of Las Vegas and the Henderson Writers Group must get credit for supporting me and the many other writers and authors. You can’t ride the road alone; you need signs and these people were the signs. Without them, we write in the air, without others hearing or enjoying the stories.
