We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Brownstein and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have always been a maker of things! I used to sew fur purses, pillows, custom clothing and curtains for people. I often rescued furniture from the side of the road to recover them for myself. You can find me thrifting all over Los Angeles, collecting vintage clothing and various home items. For a stint, I worked for a company designing jewelry and accessories. Since having my two children, over a decade ago, and buying my first home, I dove right into the landscaping and fell in love with the process. I worked with some other designers along the way and learned a lot about interior design through them where my own unique eclectic style ignited. When I purchased House of Faun in 2017, it was my dream redo! A real jewel in the rough. The property was expansive. The outdoor space and the indoor outdoor flow of the house was the ideal palate for my vision. I knew this was a space I was going to share with the world. The back guesthouse was tucked away against the private upper garden which was perfect for a retreat getaway. The groovy guesthouse is now available for rent on Air B and B. We are currently adding a rooftop terrace with views of the Hollywood sign. The center courtyard of the home is serene and open. The fern garden along the south side of the house is a tropical tunnel paradise with a vine covered arbor, perfect for a long table that can seat up to 60 people, and ferns lit from within above. I could imagine beautiful parties set up there with all the garden rooms as a way for guests to float about and have a truly magical experience. The house itself is fun and eclectic but with a cozy romantic feel. Each room takes on a whole different vibe, where the idea for a creative backdrop came into play. Photo shoots are a favorite here as well as a gathering place for all kinds of events and parties. Every room of the house looks out onto multiple gardens all fantastical and enchanting views from every window. I started sharing photos and talking about what was happening here. There was a buzz and with the excitement building, and people reaching out to ask about the house and wanting to see the house in person, the House of Faun brand was born! The idea here at House of Faun is, if you can dream it, we can make it reality. The backdrop is inspiring and the energy surrounds you with beauty and delight. We welcome you to fall down the rabbit hole and experience the ever evolving magic of House of Faun.

How did you come up with the idea for your business?

It all started with me sewing fur purses, pillows, custom clothing and curtains for friends. I often rescue furniture from the side of the road to repurpose. You can find me thrifting all over Los Angeles, collecting vintage clothing and various home items. I have always been a maker of things and House of Faun has become my creative outlet.

After having my two children over a decade ago, and buying my first home, I dove right into landscaping and really fell in love with that design process. Since then I have worked with other designers that have helped ignite my own unique and eclectic style.

When I purchased House of Faun in 2017, it was my dream redo! A real jewel in the rough. The property was expansive and the indoor/outdoor flow of the house was the ideal palate for my vision.

When I started designing the space I could imagine beautiful parties set up with all the garden rooms as a way for guests to float about and have a truly magical experience. The center courtyard of the home is so serene and open. The fern garden along the south side of the house is a tropical tunnel paradise with a vine covered arbor, perfect for a long table that can seat up to 60 people, with the ferns lit from above. Every room of the house looks out onto the gardens, fantastical and enchanting views from every window.

The house is a perfect mix of whimsical fantasy and sexy, down-to-earth coziness. House of Faun is a magical place to gather, create, celebrate, and explore. Each room takes on a whole different vibe, perfect as a creative backdrop.

The back guesthouse is tucked away against the private upper garden which I immediately knew I could make into the perfect retreat. It is now designed to be the perfect fantasy getaway, available to rent on AirBnB! We are currently adding a rooftop terrace with views of the Hollywood sign to make it extra special.

When I started sharing photos and talking about what I was working on there was a lot of buzz and excitement about the space. People started reaching out to ask about using the house for different purposes, and House of Faun was born!

Since launching, I have been able to share the space with some incredible creatives, house guests and brands. From photoshoots to events and parties to hosting on AirBnB. It has been incredible to share my creative space with the world and find others who appreciate it as much as I do.

At House of Faun, if you can dream it, we can make it reality. The backdrop is inspiring and the energy surrounds you with beauty and delight. We welcome you to fall down the rabbit hole and experience the ever evolving magic of House of Faun.
