We had the good fortune of connecting with Leggy Langdon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leggy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been in the music industry for 25 years. First as an artist and as a producer for the past 15. Ive always been a creative person, and music was always how I expressed my inner truth. Running along parallel to my music career I also struggled with alcohol and drug addiction and eventually got sober when I was 29. Since the pandemic my production career was heavily effected and so once we started coming back to work Id had a chance to reevaluate my purpose and how Id liek to express my truth. Ive always resonated with creating impact through my work. Music does that abstractly and beautifully but as Ive been on my own self healing journey for over 10 years and feeling the impact of that on my own life it became clear to me that offering my experience and philosophy on self empowerment and the discovery of the authentic self would be super beneficial to anyone who is on that journey. My process to this revelation has been certainly experiential and I belie somewhat novel. I have a very nuanced outlook on what makes us who we are and why we act out all of our wounding in our relationships to others and to our self.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think creativity is a form of spirituality. In its essence you are making something from nothing. But it’s never really nothing. Every idea we have comes from something, but its through our own individual lens that it becomes unique to the artist/creative. I believe Art is transcendental when it is at its best. It is a higher power that connects to us in a profound way. Each persons perception of the art is also unique. We can never really know how someone else is perceiving a song, or a painting or movie. I think as a kid I had rejected traditional religion, in my case Christianity. But I think humans need to find meaning in something otherwise nihilism sets in and im not a fan of that. Music was my connection to something higher than me, I was just a conduit for it. You cant really describe what occurs when you connect to it but it is so powerful and for me that gave me all the meaning I needed for many years. Its only in the past couple of years that I started to look beyond music to find other modalities to connect to the abstract. Thats where I found the discovery of my own self and ultimately human behavior so interesting. Ones life is a war between the framework that nature delivers us and then the conditions and environment around us. I believe through conscious exploration of my own patterns, habits and behaviors I can go in and life hack the things that does serve me anymore. My approach is to take radical responsibility for all my choices, conscious or not. Then I am the master of my own destiny and therefore empowered. Even in the inevitable pain that comes in life, thats also on me and I see that as an opportunity to learn. There are no mistakes. Only choices and consequences.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Jamie Greene – www.jamiegreene.com. Was the first person to teach me about the discovery of my truth, my eros and to free myself of crippling self judgment through his own brand of non judgmental and masculine support and coaching. He opened me up to the world of people like Carl Jung, Mens Work, Spirituality, Self Responsibility and that I don’t have to identify as an addict anymore. Most of all he was able to witness and support me at one of the most difficult times in my life. It is certainly because of him that I started on a new path towards my own work in coaching and facilitating others.
