We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Soash and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tatiana, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
In the past there were only certain career fields, job titles, types of business… Now with social media and the way the world has evolved, the possibilities are endless. If you told me in high school that I was going to become a creative graphic designer / hand letterer, I would of said what the heck is that and how would someone like that even make money? But that’s exactly what I do now. There is no need to fit into a box or past ideas of careers. You can be a very successful blogger that specializes in vegan recipes and gets paid to test and share your option of different types of matcha – who would have ever thought that was possible? And that you could support your whole family just on the money you make doing that, even hire your husband as your “photography assistant”…. Don’t put yourself in a box or apply past rules to the world now, there is a way to make a living doing almost anything that you love!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is centered around inspirational messages presented in a creative way. Each graphic, quote and photo I produce is embellished with creativity and aesthetics that evoke emotion. Social media has allowed me to share my art, and allowed others to share it as well. This exposure has been amazing for gaining clients and getting to work with people literally around the world. I think fear stops most of us from sharing what we create – who will care? What will people think? It’s not good yet…. But all artists had to start somewhere, we all shared stuff that nobody cared about, that we hate now, that was scary to put out there. But if you never start, you will never get anywhere. Don’t let the fear hold you back.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I feel so fortunate to live in a city with so many inspiring and breath taking views. Some of my favorite places ever usually center around pretty visuals and good food. Some of my favorite spots: X Coffee at vibes cafe in Long Beach followed by a day at the beach right across the street. X Lunch at the row followed by visiting their super cute shops. X A one day getaway to the Renaissance Esmeralda in palm desert X dinner at the crab pot in Long Beach X sunset shoot in Malibu X happy hour at magnolia house in Pasadena X a day in the sun at the langham Pasadena pool Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Like so many of us, my Mom is the reason for my success. She raised me to have a positive mentality and to think ANYTHING was possible, and that I deserved to have a life I loved. She showed me how to work hard, get shit done, that what I wanted was important and that people you meet along the way will help you reach your dream. We listened to Tony Robbins Cassettes on the way to soccer games, I saw her work 3 Jobs to pay for my sister and I’s braces, but the hard work never got in the way of fun. We would drive to Mexico just for lunch, and she let my sister and I paint anything on our bedroom walls, however often we liked. Creativity and hard work were the staples of our family, and I have continued those staples into my adult life and career,
