We had the good fortune of connecting with Leila and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leila, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Matters of the heart are no easy matter.

A poetic reminder that it’s hard to help how we feel and all we can do is acknowledge and embrace life’s entropy and do the best we can despite it. Easier said than done, of course, but sincerely true all the same.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music project was founded out of the dire need to establish truth and meaning to life. More important than anything is my attempt to answer life’s mysteries through the songs I create, and I do my best to ensure the lyrics and production of my music reflect that. If you too ever feel existential, you may resonate with my sound.

I want to assert that it means something to be alive and human despite the fleeting and often enigmatic nature of existence. You know, just keeping it light over here 😉

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were to plan a weeklong visit for my friends, it’d go like this:

Sunday: Rent bikes at Santa Monica and bike along the beach on Marvin Braude trail

Monday: Enjoy a casual beach day in Santa Monica and end the day with a comedy show at Westside Comedy Theatre.

Tuesday: Get tickets to be part of a live studio audience like Bill Maher or Jimmy Kimmel!

Wednesday: Go bar hopping in West Hollywood and end the night with Dinner at Norah LA.

Thursday: Plan a visit to the little known gem Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City.

Friday: Visit the Los Angeles County Arboretum where you will walk side by side with Peacocks amongst flora and fauna from all over the globe.

Saturday: Check out the Melrose Trading Post for eclectic shopping and end the night getting deep dish at Masa’s of Echo Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to Rick Epstein and the now closed West L.A Studios for providing a space to endlessly flesh out my songs. Shout out to Donna Mikayla Mundy, another incredible artist, for her company, creative advice, and consistent encouragement. And a final shout out to the city of Los Angeles for fostering all the vibrant creative energy to help me bring my project to life! I love this town.
