Meet Len May | CEO and Co-Founder of Endocanna Health, Inc.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Len May and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Len, what do you attribute your success to?
When reflecting on my success, I attribute it primarily to resilience. As an immigrant, my journey has been marked by overcoming numerous obstacles – from experiencing homelessness to achieving my first million at 30, and later, rebuilding my life after a challenging divorce. Throughout these trials, I’ve learned that adaptability, persistence, and perseverance are key components of resilience. Success is a journey filled with highs and lows, and it’s essential to embrace discomfort, displaying tenacity and determination to navigate through difficulties as they arise.
In my entrepreneurial endeavors, I’ve encountered failures, which I view as valuable learning opportunities. Despite various setbacks, I’ve consistently gleaned more knowledge from these experiences than from my successes. Being a serial entrepreneur, a term I may not fully understand, has been a part of my life since the age of 12. I’ve always enjoyed being in control, even amidst failed businesses, and these instances have served as stepping stones for personal and professional growth.
Developing mental toughness is paramount in this journey. Trusting your instincts is honed through diverse experiences, and the more you accumulate, the sharper your intuition becomes. While mental resilience is crucial, maintaining physical well-being is equally important, considering the substantial stress that accompanies the business landscape. Personally, I engage in activities like hiking to achieve a flow state, recognizing the profound mind-body connection. Whether it’s surfing, weightlifting, or yoga, finding physical activities that induce a state of flow contributes significantly to overall well-being.
Lastly, building strong relationships is an intangible but indispensable aspect of success. Collaborative efforts, navigating interpersonal challenges, and cultivating a robust support network are pivotal in the journey towards achieving one’s goals. Success, in essence, is a collective endeavor, and the ability to foster positive connections plays a vital role in this dynamic process.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Certainly! Let’s delve into my career journey, sharing insights with your community.
As an immigrant brought to America by my parents in pursuit of a better life, my career has been characterized by a profound commitment to helping people. Serving as the CEO and co-founder of Endocanna Health, Inc., I’ve played a pivotal role in advancing the field of precision medicine. Our groundbreaking patented technology leverages DNA to identify personalized endocannabinoid genotypes, setting Endocanna Health at the forefront of the industry.
Beyond endocannabinoid genotypes, our focus extends to the entire genome, guiding individuals toward holistic wellness through precision medicine. This includes personalized recommendations for supplementation, nutrients, skincare, and mental health. With over 25 years of experience in cannabis and genomics, I’ve accumulated a wealth of knowledge that has been directly applied to real-world scenarios.
As a published author and speaker, I’ve made significant contributions to peer-reviewed journals and actively participated in clinical trials. These efforts aim to advance the understanding of the Endocannabinoid system and elucidate the role of DNA and genetic expression in personalized health and wellness, while concurrently addressing potential adverse events.
My role as an accomplished public speaker has seen me present at prestigious events worldwide. Additionally, I’ve authored “Making Cannabis Personal,” a widely-read book in the industry, and serve as the host of the popular “Everything is Personal” podcast. Through these platforms, I aim to share insights, foster education, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding personalized health and the transformative potential of precision medicine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to a remarkable group of individuals who have played instrumental roles in my journey, contributing to my success and growth. Their collective support, mentorship, and inspiration have been invaluable.
First and foremost, immense gratitude to my parents, especially my dad, whose advice has been a constant source of wisdom and guidance. I’ve had the privilege of working directly with inspiring figures like Kevin McKernan, the CEO of Medicinal Genomics, who has been a beacon in the field. Dr. Mike Tagen’s insights on human genomics and the Endocannabinoid system have been pivotal in shaping my understanding.
Dr. Ethan Russo, a prolific contributor to the cannabis industry, has been a source of knowledge and inspiration. The groundbreaking work of Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, the Israeli professor who discovered delta 9 THC, Anandamide, and 2-AG, has been transformative.
I draw inspiration from individuals who have made an impact beyond their fields, such as Sir Richard Branson, who turned his ADD into a superpower, and Howard Stern, an exceptional interviewer. Their stories resonate with me and fuel my drive.
A special acknowledgment to my enduring business partner, Eric Kaufman, who has been with me since the inception of Endocanna Health. His ability to navigate and execute my sometimes unconventional ideas is truly remarkable.
However, the most profound influence in my life is my daughter Sasha. She serves as the primary catalyst for everything I do. Her presence and the responsibility of being a parent have added a depth of purpose and motivation that transcends all other aspects of my life.
In expressing my gratitude, I recognize that my journey is a collective effort, shaped by the wisdom, support, and inspiration of these remarkable individuals.
