We had the good fortune of connecting with Leonard Manning and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leonard, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
My legacy will be to create any genre of music and inspire and motivate people to create. I want people to remember me as a strong and deep-minded person. I want people to remember me as a person who wants people to be a better version of themselves.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music journey started out with a Yamaha Keyboard that only had 4 banks I can record on. When I finally moved up to the computer my grandmother bought me my creativity took over from there. Now I have the latest gear to provide the best service to my clients and create good music. The journey was hard not the ability to create but being talked down on and being told I will be nothing. I took all that negativity and put it in my music. The lesson I learned along the way is never let people’s judgment hinder you from pushing forward and succeeding in your goals and dreams. I want the world to know that I don’t back down from my dreams and my music gives you joy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The places I’ll take them if my friends visit my area is Crave Cookie, Poki Stop, HAHA Sushi, Robertitos. The places we’ll hang out at are River Park and Yosemite. River Park you can shop and eat. Yosemite you can enjoy the outdoor and eat good food. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will like to give a shoutout to my grandparents, my parents, my siblings, my cousins, my close friends and supporters. Thank you for believing in me and to my dad, I’m doing my best and thank you for helping me get my first music program which started everything.
