We had the good fortune of connecting with LERRAD. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LERRAD., what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks can give you so many different outcomes. You can succeed in what you set out to do, or you can fail. But whether you succeed or fail, you always learn lessons from the risks you take. Lessons that help further your growth, that’s something you never forget. And being an independent artist you learn that. I was being faced with so much adversity. So many obstacles in the way that could’ve altered my focus. I learned to stop listening to others, and to follow my heart. In my eyes I can’t fail because I make music from my heart. If I change one persons way of thinking with my music, then my work is done.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been making music for almost 9 years now. And I’ll be honest, I’m still no where near where I want to be in my career. Was some of the setbacks my fault? Most definitely. But when life hits you, it hits you hard. Some things you just can’t prevent, and that’s what makes your life worth living. I’ve had an A&R from a record label tell me over the phone “You will never make it in music””. Made me question myself. Made me even wonder “why am I chasing a dream that’s unrealistic? I was only 21 years old at the time. So immature, thinking I know it all when I don’t know anything. I disagreed with him for sure, but I wasn’t doing music for the right reasons. I wanted to be known so bad that I would do anything just to gain the fans, and I still failed. But it was a fire in me that never really wanted to let music go. Over the years that fire became massive and it’s nothing anybody can do to put it out. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my brothers Tory Falls, Saint Germain & Seshin. Meeting you guys was the biggest highlight in my music career. Freedom Hive is a group I always imagined myself being apart of. I wish each of you guys much success on your journey, and I’m excited to see where the hive takes us.
