Meet Les Femmes Productions | Female Dance Entertainment Company

We had the good fortune of connecting with Les Femmes Productions and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Les Femmes, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
We aim to educate and inspire people through our performances of women empowerment, which includes all female identifying people. The goal is to exude so much confidence in a burlesque-inspired setting that our audiences are left feeling uplifted, informed, and motivated by our influence. We also strive to represent a diverse group of women in our cast in order to tell stories from different perspectives. With the company, our end goal is to create a powerful community through our events and different shows/venues we book, and even have the entire show running nationally.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Les Femmes tells stories of women empowerment through the ages, one decade at a time. Focusing on each decade allows us to not only invite our audience into the era, but also provides us an opportunity to share the history of women’s suffrage in a nuanced way. We celebrate each decade, how far we’ve come in the last century, and how much farther we have to go. Our interactive and adaptable show showcases dancers, singers, and actors who transition the audience seamlessly from era to era. The movement style of Les Femmes is heels dance with a burlesque icing on top, and the characters dependent on the time period. We’re most proud of the reactions and feedback from those who have seen our shows, which excites us for the future of Les Femmes! The biggest testimonial we get is, “We want to be in it next time!”
It’s been a three year rollercoaster of hard work, trust, and perseverance, but the most valuable lesson we learned is to always remember why we started the show. Producing a new company comes with its obstacles and distractions, so sticking with your instincts and leaning on your team for support will always get you to where you want to be. Honestly, we didn’t even know what producing was when we first started. Now we’ve proven to ourselves that if you believe it you can achieve it, as corny as it sounds.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Building a brand new company comes with a village of people who have helped us. Since this was birthed from a college production class, and evolved into a professional company, we would love to shout out our mentors Nancy Dobbs Owen, Jeremy Kent Jackson, and Zoe Rappaport. We also had a tremendous amount of support from our industry educators, which include Joe Brown, Allyssa Sniff, and Leslie Stevens. Lastly, we had the best costume designer in the world, Blair James, who was much more than just our stylist. Of course, we have a wonderful cast and team behind us, though these are just a few people that helped us turn this dream into a reality! If you’d like to see everyone involved, check out our website for the entire cast and crew list.
