We had the good fortune of connecting with Leticia Orozco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leticia, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Originally from Guatemala, I immigrated to the U.S. in the 1990s as a young girl. Adjusting to a new country, learning English, and absorbing a new culture while maintaining my own identity was challenging but ultimately enriching. Being a single mother was tough, but I was never truly alone—my mother, brothers, and sister were constant sources of encouragement and support. Experiencing the ups and downs of life as a young single mom while navigating cosmetology school taught me resilience and empathy, qualities that I now extend to every client and coworkers. Growing up in Los Angeles as the daughter of a determined single mother instilled in me the importance of hard work and community support. These foundational experiences have shaped not only my personal values but have also profoundly influenced my approach to business. At Vive Organic Hair Salon, we embody these principles by cultivating a strong work ethic and fostering a sense of community—ensuring that our salon is more than just a place for beauty services; it’s a space where everyone feels supported and welcomed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Vive Organic Hair Salon stands out not just for its commitment to organic and non-toxic beauty solutions but for its deep integration into the cultural fabric of our community. What sets us apart is our focus on creating a holistic environment that transcends the typical salon experience. We prioritize the health of our clients’ hair and their overall well-being, ensuring every product and service we offer aligns with our values of natural beauty care. This dedication extends to our community initiatives, supporting local events and providing a platform for empowerment.

I am particularly proud of how Vive has grown to become a haven where clients are treated like family. This atmosphere of warmth and inclusivity is something we cultivate consciously. The journey to this point wasn’t easy. Navigating the competitive landscape of Beverly Hills, West LA, Beverly Grove, and all of Los Angeles salons required not only innovative business strategies but also a steadfast commitment to our unique value proposition—organic, safe, and culturally attuned services.

Challenges were plentiful, from the initial hurdles of funding and finding the right location to the ongoing tasks of staff training and product selection. Overcoming these obstacles involved a mix of resilience, learning from missteps, and a continuous dialogue with our clients to better meet their needs. From these experiences, the greatest lesson learned is the power of community. Listening to and growing with our community has shaped our services and internal culture, making us more robust and responsive as a business.

What I want the world to know about Vive Organic Hair Salon is that it is a reflection of a journey—not just mine but of every person who walks through our doors. Each strand of hair treated in our salon carries a story, and we are here to enhance it with care and expertise, ensuring that everyone leaves feeling better, not just about their look but about their choice to support a business that cares about their health and their environment. At Vive, Hair is life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Los Angeles for a week, I’d show them why I love this city so much. We’d start with a morning hike up the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook to see the city spread out below us—a perfect way to start our adventure. Then, we’d head to Cafe Vida in Culver City for a tasty breakfast. This place serves great, healthy food that gives you a real feel for California’s fresh cuisine.

Our plan would include a mix of chill spots and cultural sites. We’d spend a day at some museums and landmarks, exploring the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), The Getty, or the Griffith Observatory, and see all kinds of art from around the world. For food, I’d take them to Mariscos Cuatro Vientos, in East L.A., for some amazing shrimp tacos, and then to a Guatemalan Bakery to enjoy some sweet bread and coffee from Guatemala. In the evenings, we’d check out some of the city’s fun spots. We’d have dinner at The Perch in Downtown L.A., a cool rooftop place, and then maybe go salsa dancing or take a relaxing walk at the Santa Monica promenade.

This week would be about more than just visiting places; it would be about feeling the energy and life of Los Angeles. From its diverse cultures and the mix of old and new, to its natural beauty, there’s so much to love here. I want my friend to see all of this and understand why this city means so much to me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For this shoutout, it’s challenging to single out just one person or group, as many have profoundly impacted my journey with Vive Organic Hair Salon. First and foremost, my family—my son, sister, mother, two brothers, partner, nieces, nephews, cousins, and my late stepfather. Their unwavering support has been the cornerstone of my resilience and success. My son holds a special place in this journey; he was my first client at Vive. Also, as a licensed Civil Engineer, he managed the plans for the remodeling and construction of our salon.

Additionally, I am super grateful to our clients, whose loyalty and support have been instrumental. Their feedback and trust have helped shape our salon into the nurturing and empowering community it is today. They believed in me and all the stylist to start a new journey.

I must also recognize my friends and the exceptional team at Vive Organic Hair Salon. From our talented stylists to our dedicated assistants and the warm front desk staff, each member has contributed uniquely to the heart and success of our salon. This team isn’t just a group of coworkers; they are an extension of my family, integral to building a salon that embodies more than beauty—it represents a haven of support and empowerment.

This shoutout extends to all these remarkable individuals who have enriched my journey and our shared story at Vive Organic Hair Salon. Their collective efforts and love have not only helped me navigate my path but have also deeply enriched it. I am profoundly thankful for each of their roles in this beautiful journey.
