Meet Lexx Brown-James | Phd level sexologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexx Brown-James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexx, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from College Park Georgia., grew up Baptist, Black,fat and not the highest ses. I Also grew up with a 2 parent household and I think all of these things impact that I am today. I am still a black fat Southerner I’m also queer so clear and it is my it is my goal to help lovers of color connect intimately As well as help others raise kids with shamefree sex ed. It’s what I saw was most needed in my community growing up. Decent Black and POC romantic relationships and more knowledge about all that is sexuality.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The institute is a therapy and education business dedicated to enhancing enhancing the intimacy between lovers in lovers and educating all on shamefree sex ed from womb to tomb.

I created the institute because I was told that I was not tirable and experienced black bowling while living in the Midwest.. Only your business is never easy but with support, which was knowledge hammer a little bit of financing, and a desire to establish a place of refuge for people of color Specifically and their lovers I was able to create a booming practice.

Unless since I’ve learned are to have systems in place so you don’t always have to be present, by the tools that you need for success they are absolutely worth it, comma and most importantly go with your gut a no and your gut means a no out loud.

I want the world to know that they are deserved of being loved completely just as who they are and that therapy and education are simple tools that can help enhance life’s relationships life’s relationships and their own happiness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So if my ultimate homie was coming to visit I would 1st start out at my house it is one of the dope spots I know and with time we would take a swim maybe watch a movie on the patio and and/or host a little get together by the casino maybe even paddle a small pond. Great after that we would venture into into the city of philly Where we would go to the continental and try out their French onion soup dumplings and of course visit one of the many awesome museums in the city. I would love to also take her to roxborough or Armenian where we would take a boxing class or maybe just run the hills for exercise and then a walk along Kelly drive maybe even a bicycle ride. Lastly maybe by the end of the week, I would love to take her to an old school roller skating night I’m not sure if she can roll a skate yet but I think she’s been practicing where we could skate to all of the best nineties R and B and hip hop jams

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My community of black psychologist is it is interval to all that I am and all of my success. They they cheer me on, and mention my name in places where I’m not physically present.. They also have helped me believe that I can be a leader in the field open camera and push me to do so.
