We had the good fortune of connecting with Lin Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
In the beginning, art felt mysterious to me, especially the abstract ways of thinking that led me to question my own existence and search for something eternal in the universe. But the journey wasn’t always smooth—I faced setbacks, doubted myself, and felt lost at times. Over time, I realized that art isn’t about finding a single, definite answer. Instead, it’s a way of seeing the world, a way of feeling and understanding things in my own way. Now, art is not just something I do—it has become a part of my life, shaping how I observe the world and express my thoughts.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art primarily focuses on painting, and I recently finished an exhibition called ‘异地而处’ (In a Different Place). The works in this exhibition were inspired by stories of ancient female figures, which I reinterpreted in my own way. I used organic materials like mineral pigments, paper, and clay boards to reflect the essence of these stories.

Throughout my artistic journey, I’ve struggled with the ideas of right and wrong in my work. But over time, I’ve realized that what matters most is trusting my own intuition and being able to express myself honestly and authentically. This is what excites me about my art – creating from a place of truth and personal connection.

As for lessons, I don’t believe there are any ‘lessons’ per se. Every perception and every experience has been a part of my accumulation and growth. The conclusion of my exhibition is: Beauty is embracing the real you. This is the message I hope to share with others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live on the outskirts of the city, about 13 kilometers from my studio, where there is a small mountain and a lake at its foot. If my friends came to visit, I would take them to experience the emotions of this landscape at different times of the day, in both sunny and rainy weather. Another place I would take them to is an abandoned amusement park, where they can feel the absurdity of the man-made environment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am truly grateful for every failure along the way, as they have made me more resilient and helped me learn how to view myself from different perspectives. The most significant thing I’m thankful for is Bitcoin. Its value has given me the financial freedom to pursue my creative work without the pressure of conforming to what others expect or want to see. This freedom allows me to focus solely on my art and truly explore my passion.
