We had the good fortune of connecting with Lin Zuo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lin, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I am currently a producer working with International Film & Video on indie movies filmed at international settings, and also international cultural travel documentaries. I like to travel the world since High school when I was in China, as I have curiosity to learn different cultures and meet different people. I believe at end of our lives, there is nothing staying with you other your experience with the world.
I like reading and writing since I was young. I am also a very imaginative person, creating dramatic stories in my mind all the time. These help me with writing stories for our film projects.
I worked in corporations and NGO before, and have gained plenty of program management experience. These also help me with developing and producing film projects..
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think I have answered part of it in Question 1.. I am currently a producer for movies and documentaries at international settings.
For the past 2 years, we have filmed two beautiful movies.,One is “ Amazon Queen”, shot in the mysterious Amazon Forest in Brazil in Oct 2020. It has been released on major platforms in Northern America such as YouTube, Amazon Prime, Vudu, etc. The story tells how a dreaming vacation turns into a nightmare for survival when two desperate robbers take a Amazon cruise boat and the tourists as hostage. It’s a thriller combined with drama. It has interesting characters, intense plots and once-of-a-kind Amazon natural and cultural sceneries. Fun to watch! By the way, it had gained 70 awards and 62 nominations for 108 international film festivals at 28 countries!
Another movie we just finished filming in Egypt in this March is called “ Egyptian Affair”. it“s a suspense/thriller with romance. It”s a story that two married American couples go to Egypt for vacation where they meet a beautiful and mysterious couple from Spain and Egypt. When they enjoy the stunning sceneries together, they don’t know they have become the easy target for scums. It’s a story about betrayal between couples and good friends, caused by jealousy, greed and egos – the weakness in humanity. As you know, Egypt has the oldest civilization memorial in the world. We have tried to combine pyramids, the Nile, the Valley of the Kings, the Karnak and Luxor Temple, the waterway in Aswan,- many cultural and natural sceneries – with the story. So with our wonderful cast, solid acting, quality production, and intriguing Egypt scenes, it’’s going to be a very very beautiful movie to watch! It’s in the post- production stage now. I can’t wait.
For above two movies, I developed part of the stories, and also shot still photos and behind-the-scene documentaries on site. Right now, I am also working on the third movie project – “ Madagascar Gold” – which will be filmed in Madagascar, and also possibly Portugal. It’s a pirate treasure hunting story involving adventure, thrill and romance. I have finished writing most of the story, and we are working with scriptwriters for script now.
I am also working on fundraising and distributions for our movies.
For documentaries, I have developed a TV series called “ Shipwrecks along the Maritime Silk Road”. It tells the stories of legendary shipwrecks along the historical sea route between China, the India Ocean counties and the West, and the history and cultures behind the ships. Through this program, I want to discuss how different cultures can harmoniously co- exist and benefit each other, through fair trade, and friendly culture exchanges. I am still working on fundraising for this program.
The specialty and uniqueness of our projects is they are international. We hope we can broaden audiences’ horizon with cultures, geography, sceneries, customs, architecture and people from other countries. Also, unlike many other productions, all of our films are authentically shot in those international countries, not in studios.
The challenge of filming in international countries is, you have to be open to foreign food, traditions and cultures. You need to come out of your comfort zone, and are willing to explore and experience different things and have fun with them. Then, you will have a fun and memorable journey.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Person- wise, it would be my grandpa. He was very knowledge. Since my childhood, He has inspired me to read, and learn knowledge and information especially on history and society. Book-wise, there are a few books really impacting me on the lifestyle I am pursuing. There is one internationally famous – “ The Adventures of Tintin” created by the Belgian cartoonist Hergé. Since I read the first Tintin story in grade 4, Tintin has always been my role model. He inspired me to go internally and explore the world. Also, I always like to create international adventure stories with some similarity with “ The Adventure of Tintin”.
