Meet Lina Cordero | Creative Director at Onlychild Design

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lina Cordero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lina, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We created Here2Help to support small businesses and entrepreneurs who are struggling financially to make their vision a reality. The program has two components: A live show in partnership with Adobe, and a Grant Program provided by our studio Onlychild Design.
Right after the pandemic hit, I realize the need that many people and businesses had to reinvent themselves and pivot to stay relevant in a crazy economy, and a lot of these people had branding and design needs that they couldn’t afford.
I was lucky enough to be connected to Adobe Live at the time, so I pitched them the idea and they went with it. The name of the show is Here2Help, and it is a 2-day live session where 2 designers work hand in hand to help the business with as much as they can. It’s so much fun to collaborate with designers around the world and being able to help these entrepreneurs.
We realized that the need is bigger than what we could cover on the show, so we decided to expand the program into our studio and create the Here2Help Design Grant. Where we work with one chosen business per quarter to provide free design help. Because of the high demand, we focus on helping women, BIPOC, and Latinx businesses at the moment.
I would be naive to think I can change the world with this, but I believe that if everyone is able to put their talents towards helping at least one person selflessly, then we can start to create change.

What should our readers know about your business?
Onlychild is a female-forward, full-service design studio specializing in brand design. We help women be seen and heard by revolutionizing the way women’s brands are created.
We not only love digging deep into what makes women tick, and creating beautiful + impactful identities that reflect that, but most importantly, we thrive in helping female owners achieve the brand that’s going to help them thrive.
The Onlychild road (like any new small business) hasn’t been an easy one. Balancing raising a baby and starting a business has been challenging at times but the one thing that keeps me going is the absolute love that I have towards what I do. Working with women entrepreneurs is magical! I get to be inspired by each of my clients and their visions every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start the day rollerblading at the beach, or surfing.
After that, I would take them to one of my favorite brunch spots: Lunetta, Fig Tree Cafe or Playa Provisions
We can go grab some yummy international food for lunch at either ChaCha Chicken (Caribbean), Cafe Brazil, Gran Casino (Argentinean) or Cafe Bolivar (Venezuelan), or Kazunori (Japanese).
Stop for pastries and coffee at Bianca or for ice cream by Rose Creamery (their mint flavor is absolutely amazing!) or simply hang out at a park – I love Clover Park in Santa Monica
We would have dinner at Fia (Their patio feels so magical at night!)
After all that eating we would finish off the night at LA Sudamericana for the best Latin dance party in town!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so many people to thank for my journey…
My family is my biggest support and the reason I am where I am – And my amazing husband, Tomas for being my biggest cheerleader and constantly reminding me to TRUST.
My friends – those fearless, strong, and awesome women that have helped me navigate life – every stage of it.
All of my clients, who are the reason I wake up hyped every Monday!
To my team, Vivi and Yuliia, for “just getting it” and making everything fun.
