We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Guttman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what matters most to you?
Integrity and following through with my word are the most valuable principles in my business. Reputation is everything and fellow agents want to work not only with “closers” but also agents who are strong communicators and keep the deal classy from start to finish. When I agree to represent a client I follow through on my deliverables, they constantly receive updates from me and know that I have their best interest at heart no matter what size of the real estate deal.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
While real estate was in my blood my first job was in design at Ralph Lauren Corporate on the Upper East Side of New York City. I had my real estate license and stepped into the residential brokerage world 3 years after helping design neckwear and ascots at Ralph Lauren. For nearly a decade I supported and ran the thriving business of the top agents both in Manhattan at Corcoran and Douglas Elliman, along with the top players in the Brentwood and Beverly Hills real estate teams. After years of my fellow colleagues asked “when are you going out on your own?” I finally took the leap after running Bond Street Partners team at The Agency for 3 years. I have now worked with The Agency based in their Beverly Hills office for over 10 years. My counterparts know me as a “deal closer,” while someone who also lives a very full and balanced life filled with fun, dance, international travel and my Burning Man community. I’ve learned over the years that living an authentic life doing what makes me happy while also crushing it for my clients makes me more attractive as an agent to work with. My clients like me, they trust me, and they know I lead with honesty and integrity. I feel I have created the perfect live/work life that does not go unnoticed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well LA is quite the expansive city and I always like to cater to my audience and their tastes. If I had my way, I would certainly take them to a classic Tower Bar dinner at my favorite art deco hotel, The Sunset Tower… no photos are allowed, East Coast private club vibes in the wood-paneled dining room with live jazz music, delicious food and low-key celeb spotting. Of course a drive in my convertible up Malibu coast for lunch on the pier or Geoffrey’s are a must, a stop at the country mart for shopping and some barefoot grounding with a beach walk in Marina del Rey. A guest pass to join me at Gold’s Gym in Venice with more celeb spottings (hello Arnold) then an afternoon stroll along Abbot Kinney, coffee and chat at Intelligentsia, followed by a leisurely Lunch on the roof of Gjelina for the truffle mushroom pizza and delicious tasty dishes. Private dinner/house parties with my Venice community may include a sound bath, dj set and/or talks of biohacking are sure to ensue!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Funny enough, I learned my strongest work ethics from a self-starter whose name is Jack Guttman who happens to be my Father. He is a self-made real estate pioneer based in New York City. He began his career in San Diego building housing communities and strip malls and is now a commercial developer with 2 new buildings adding to the Manhattan skyline. Jack raised me to “figure it out” no matter what the job entails, to think outside the box and how can I stand out from the “crowd”, and the art of negotiating successfully. My strong New York work ethic has set me apart in my 15 years in California, I get things done quickly, efficiently and timely which in today’s sense of immediacy does not go unnoticed by my clientele.
