We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Nicole Hirschler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey Nicole, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The decision to have outrageous confidence in myself. Not in an egotistical sense, but being courageous enough to bet on myself even when others might not. When you decide to start your own business there are several unknowns so even when I hit roadblocks, I still had enough confidence in myself and my end goal to keep pushing onward. I just knew in my gut that I could “make it” on my own terms and build a life as well as career I love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I own a hybrid photography business in which I shoot in both medium film format as well as digital to create authentic, artistically inclined portraits for my clients. The biggest differentiator for myself in comparison to other photographers is that I’m so passionate about cultivating long lasting relationships with my clients and other vendors. I treat people the way I want to be treated and it goes a long way. I also have a strong background in dance that allows me to be very keen on aesthetically pleasing lines. I want my clients to feel and look incredible and to have that knowledge of body composition and language makes a huge difference in my imagery.

I’m fortunate that my career now lends me the opportunity to travel the world and meet some of the most incredible people along the way. However, to get to the place I am today was not without a lot of trials. Navigating my own start up business, building websites, managing finances, voyaging through social media etc, down to learning how to simply take a photo let alone find my artistic eye doesn’t come without a lot of ups and downs. For me, I was self-taught through and through, so it was at times a struggle not having someone to lean on that “came before me”.
I navigated my own waters and I’m proud of that.

I want people to know that if you have a dream and a passion, to not be scared to follow it even if it might be the harder or unordinary route. Also to not be scared to ask questions along the way. I reached out to a lot of people I didn’t know to get help in areas I was unfamiliar with within business and even photography. We are a community after all and the more we can help one another the better we will be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For lunch Hotel Figueroa actually has some of the best drinks and tapas tacos around plus a cute lounging area overlooking the pool. Malibu farms is also a favorite for me as well as Elephant in Santa Monica. El Salvator is a stunning beach with Mastros Oceans near by with incredible ocean views as the sun sets.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I love this question because I believe we cannot truly succeed without having a community of people (no matter how big or small) lifting and guiding us on our path. For me, this was undeniably my parents. They paid for my first camera and really encouraged me to pursue my dream because they saw first-hand how inspired I was by the entire idea of this as a career.

They were day one cheerleaders and continue to always be in my corner through all the ups and downs. It taught me the power of encouragement, love and having a listening ear.
I would not be who I am or where I am without them.

I also want to make a shoutout to my husband, Luke who has seen first hand all the work, hustle, challenges and victories since the beginning. I wouldn’t be able to grow as quickly without his support and love. He is my rock and I am extremely blessed to have him by my side.
