Meet Lisa Stovall | Luxury Balloon Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Stovall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I believe the most important thing I have done as a parent is to instill a good work ethic. I was a single mom for many years . In those years I had to work a couple jobs in order to pay the bills. My kids watched how hard I had to work for the things we had. We definitely did not have a lot, however I did it all on my own . Most important I want them to be proud of where they came from. Not working is never an option , being lazy is not an option . Teaching me kids to have a goal and dreams is what I want them to learn from me . Watching me have joy in my work now realizing my hard work is paying off.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Luxury balloons are somewhat of a fad right now . Balloons have always been a part of parties, however they have evolved into something much bigger in today’s society. I always had a passion for parties , it’s truly in my blood . I love all of it , the theme , the linens the balloons, all the small details. Years ago I would decorate for family parties and always incorporate a balloon garland. After one event , I mentioned it to my family that I think I can make a business out of this , by the next month I was up and running . As much as I love all things parties, my main focus is balloons . I started watching everything I could on balloons to learn and saturate myself with all the knowledge I could . In my mind I knew what I wanted and I had to go for it . When I started I did it because I love it , I have a passion for it , creating something beautiful is so fulfilling . I did not think it would grow as fast as it did . Because of how fast it took off , things were not always easy . I was so busy that I did not have time to relax . So during that time I needed to evaluate how I was going to move forward . As much as I love every part of my job , there is some downsides to it. Balloons are a luxury not a necessity , with that being said , a lot of work goes into each job. There is planning , mock ups , shopping , prepping and time is money . Once I started realizing all the work that goes into what I do I had to make sure my prices matched the job. I had to establish a minimum for each job, and because of that I will lose customers . Not because I want to , simply because they do not understand the time and work that goes into each set up . I could not go on at the same rate , doing every job I could
. Doing that I was only getting burned out but not to mention I failed to give my all. Now I want to really focus on my work and creating beautiful pieces . I try my best to create each event with a personal touch. I want my clients to walk away feeling like I created something special for them. Maybe it’s the little extra things I try to add or just the know that I always try to go over and beyond , But just like when I started , this is truly my passion and I love every second of it .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in So Cal we have so many places within an hour of us. For me my personal favorite place is Newport. I love going and walking pier to pier or riding my bike . Sharkeez is always a favorite stop to grab chips and a margarita. They also have amazing restaurants, The Cannery is one of my favorites. Another stop would be Hollywood , so many amazing little eateries and places to shop that is a must. When most people think of So Cal Disney also is one of the places to go see . Even just going to downtown Disney to walk around , grab an appetizer and some drinks somewhere. It’s great to sit and just watch all the excitement surrounding Disney.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister is number one supporter . She has always believed in me, encouraged me , as well as be brutally honest with me . As I was starting out , she was the one that believed in me that I could do this . So many times I that about just giving up. It’s not always easy working with the public , it can be difficult at times. I have had a few hiccups along the way and she is always there to talk me through them . My sister , my dad , my kids are all part of this wonderful journey I’m on . Without them it simply would not be the same .
