We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I used to think of this as Work life balance.

Now I think of it as Life Balance.

All of the elements of life must be in balance of harmony with one another.

When one receives more attention than the other, the others can suffer.

In the past, I’ve burnt out due to overworking.

In meeting from 7:30 am – 12 pm, drink coffee, then more meetings or time to do work from 1-6 pm, dinner and then more work after that – until 10 pm, bedtime.

Overfilling my calendar was normal- the more I work, the more I receive clients and money and reach my very superficial goals.

Being an independent business owner also warrants this lifestyle.

Our culture rewards this type of behavior.

This went on for months and then, bam! The universe stopped me.

I fell ill- hurt my back due to all of the pressure I was putting on myself and not resting.

I needed to slow down and was sadly forced to do it.

Being non-physical makes you value your physicality more than anything.

I realized that something needed to shift and quickly.

Overtime, i realized the balance that I needed to create. This involved work, but work was a tiny slice of the pie- I have many interests and things that feed me, and I need to in turn feed them.

I made time for workouts, meditation and journaling.

I made time for my friendships, romantic relationships and business relationships.

I made time for work and for play. This is the balance and all of these elements are a part of life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a multi-faceted person – Life coach, yogi, healer, postpartum doula and more.

I invest in myself and my education- learning about things that interest me and sharing those with my clients and community and online followers.

This more dynamic way of existing is fun, challenging and free.

I’ve been in the conventional setting – working 9 – 5 and making money for others. This was great, until I was ready for more.

My journey towards becoming what I am today was inspired by my personal experiences of profound changes, acceptance and growth.

While building a successful digital marketing business, I moved across the state, suddenly stepped into the role of being a parent, obtained a conscious divorce, and lost a loved one. T
he reality of these experiences opened me up to my path to spiritual self-discovery and acknowledgment of my innate spiritual gifts which I share with others via coaching, postpartum work and healing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite LA spots:

Malibu – special beaches and trails

Followed by a drink and sushi at Nobu.

Calabasas Stairs – a great outdoor workout. We’ll bring my dog!

Calabasas Saturday Farmers Market – the best one in the area!

Santa Monica – FIG restaurant for the best Happy hour in LA.

Beverly Hills – Rodeo Drive for people watching and shopping.

Hiking at Griffith park around sunset to hike and go to Hollywood sign and stay until night time and catch all of the celestial activity.

Silverlake/Frogtown – live music and kombucha at Zebulon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my grandmother – in spirit form. She is my mom’s mom. A woman of her time – she had 9 children, raised them all and even some of her grandchildren.
Feminine, strong, patient and sweet, I have memories of her making my fried beans and rice with plantains when I visited her in El Salvador as a kid.

She continues to show up for me in spirit form, as a guide, as a confidant and a teacher.

I am so grateful to be connected to such a bright and elevated angel.
