We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisann Valentin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisann, what do you attribute your success to?
My audacity of ferocious belief.

I have this voice that speaks in the center of my heart and it lovingly helps me to keep moving forward. That belief has been stronger than my human mind could ever conceive. That’s the only way I have been able to live my life as a storyteller through so many careers.

Whether I’m on-camera, or I’m supporting other multi-hyphenates navigate self-doubt with Spiritual Coaching and motivational speaking, the strength of that audacity and the power of that ferocity shines through.

In my opinion, if you can cultivate that relationship, it is what buoys you through the storms of life, what resounds louder than any voice around you and it becomes the lamp in the dark where you not only guide yourself but all those who follow in your footsteps.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve lived quite a life thus far! And it has been a deeply Spiritual experience.

Perhaps the most obvious thing that would set me apart is that I have been an attorney on Wall Street and I have as many film/tv credits to my name as my age (even though I started acting later than most). That pivot was led by my Spirituality and my roots which made intuition and energy work a part of my life from childhood.

Leaving the law took a lot of planning, a lot of meditating, and the creative freedom to explore what was possible. I had to adapt from life at a law firm as a litigator to a full-time creative life where my schedule changed drastically from day to day. It’s the life of an entrepreneur really, because actors are small businesses. The hardest part was remembering to anchor into self-belief. Lots of people have opinions, but the one that matters most comes from within.

When I wrote about that pivot, my intuition led me to be published in what became a New York Times Best-Selling anthology. The press tour afterward was pretty seamless because I had support. But internally? It was a battle. It tested my confidence. No one can prepare you for that type of exposure (literally feeling vulnerable) when the thing that thrusts you into the spotlight is just you being you. What happens with a spotlight? You start to notice the shadows you hadn’t seen previously. Shadows like self-doubt, fear, and rejection. They all show up at your door so you can face them. And face them I did. I invited them in and I thanked them for their lessons.

Navigating a high-stakes career to a life that became high profile very quickly was only possible because I allowed myself the audacity to dream and to take inspired actions toward those dreams. I didn’t ignore the possibility of failure, nor that of success. I welcomed them, I danced with them and still, I let that inner roar lead. I took tender care of my inner world, with mindfulness practices and expanding my self-care routines, so I could hear higher guidance coming through. That too isn’t always easy. Intuitive guidance doesn’t make logical sense. But what’s logical about being a lawyer-turned-actor and Spiritual Coach? And yet, here I am. My life is my testimony.

Being a multi-passionate human isn’t for everyone. But those who are neurodivergent like I am, often find their way to me. And that serendipitously led me to add certified spiritual coaching to my portfolio.

Somehow I found myself guiding other people in high-profile careers as they navigated their own pivots and started to see their own shadows. Having been there myself, it was a natural fit to blend every facet of my experience into this aspect of my life. And it has been a wild adventure. From hosting retreats to coaching award-winning artists, and feeling the room light up at public speaking engagements, I’m still floored by it if I’m being honest. It’s like my whole life, every experience, every career, was preparing me to blend it all and create a life so uniquely my own that the Divine intervention throughout would be undeniable.

If anyone ever tells you that you have to pick one lane in this highway called life, just ignore them. You’re paving your own way right? So make your lanes. Take up all of them. It’s your journey and no one has to understand it, believe in it, or live it except you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The experiences that bring me joy are centered around food, walking, and deep conversations. Which can be boring to most people. But not my bestie! I’d take her to the Getty, I always feel so serene there. We’d spend a day eating at District Market. Spend another day shopping and noshing at The Grove. We’d walk the Santa Monica Pier and Boardwalk. We would probably also shop in Glendale and eat at Salt and Olive. I am a bit of a nomad but one thing stays consistent: I like walking and eating and talking, y’all.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a lot of people who have held my hand along the way. Loved ones and mentors. Entire teams. Delicious books. Phenomenal films. And still, I have to dedicate this to my mom Elisa. She’s my rock. Always has been.
