We had the good fortune of connecting with Lissa Sandler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lissa, what matters most to you?
Listening to your Inner Voice and trusting your intuitive nudges in your business and life is so important.
I learned the hard way by not practicing this principle and I went through a total disconnection from my true self or in modern society terms – I went through severe burnout.
Because of a variety of factors, including early childhood conditioning and then a few life altering experiences in my teens and early adulthood, I didn’t feel an Inner Voice connection at all, so I spent years looking outside myself for creativity, acceptance, support, and the right path forward. By doing this, my wonderfully unique qualities just became unseeable and my health suffered as my Inner Voice struggled to breakthrough to me.
Honoring what your true self is directing you towards, whether it’s about your brand choices, what kinds of free content to share, whether or not a prospective client or opportunity feels like a good fit, or what offers you are feeling excited about launching – all of these choices will shine and land in a very different way with your audience when they come from the still, wise voice inside, rather than trying to fit into some idea of what you think will work based on what you see others in your industry doing.
Trusting your Inner Voice is a really important principle that I live by and that I teach the clients I mentor to embrace.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I understand the struggles my health and wellness clients are facing as I have worked on the other side of their business, in web design, systems/tech, brand strategy, marketing, and development for 20+ years. I have seen where they self-sabotage and hold themselves back with things like comparison syndrome, analysis paralysis, and perfectionism, so I am in a unique way suited to help them with what I believe is the key to their success – stopping their conditioned mind from running the show, by becoming present and by strengthening their mindset by turning inward and listening for their Inner Voice.
Through my programs, such as Rise and Release Together, Inner Self Solution, and Becoming Inner Guided, I help individuals cultivate a strong connection with their inner voice and I guide them on a journey of self-awareness, self-care, and self-empowerment.
The names of my programs reflect the belief that true healing and transformation start from within, and by reconnecting with their inner selves, individuals can find the answers and solutions to any challenge and live more fulfilling lives.
My audience includes health and wellness entrepreneurs seeking to build a practice or a business while also overcoming various stages of burnout (a disconnection from their true self/Inner Voice). My clients include yoga teachers, meditation teachers, sound healers, Integrative health coaches, Ayurvedic health coaches, therapists of all kinds, and other professionals in the holistic, wellness and spiritual fields.
Some of my community are just getting started and may have had another career that caused their burnout such as a corporate job and now they are transitioning to the career or business they have been dreaming of.
While others have been working at their dreams for a while but because of poor boundaries and a lack of Inner Voice connection they also are facing overwhelm and burnout.
This disconnection from the true self/Inner Voice can show up as feeling like they are stuck in groundhogs day, where no matter how hard they work, nothing is changing. Or it can also show up as getting caught in research loops, procrastination, or. perfectionism. I also talk to many very skilled and talented healers who are feeling imposter syndrome and an inability to make decisions/analysis paralysis. While others are stuck in comparison syndrome-always looking outward for answers.
I can speak from experience that these are the ways a disconnect from your Inner Voice shows up. A few years ago before becoming an Inner Voice facilitator and meditation teacher, I kept ignoring the mental nudges and physical symptoms my body and inner voice were providing – my symptoms and emotions were telling me it was time for a change of direction in my career. But I was so identified with my role as a brand strategist and web designer I could not see how the change could possibly happen so I self-sabotaged all of the opportunities to change that did appear. Until finally I ended up in bed with a terrible back pain, unable to sit at my computer any longer. I had to find a new path. And once I started listening inward my new path truly started to fall into place with such little effort. It was facinating. So now I am helping others to do the same.
I help my clients slow down and focus on what really matters in their business and life. They cutout the rest with self-awareness, self-compassion and by quieting the critical mind.
My content, programs and services are designed to guide my community and clients to cultivate a state of balance, calmness, and compassion through a strong Inner Voice connection. The result is having the energy and space they need to serve, heal and lead in the ways their true self is guiding them to.
I am a guide and catalyst for personal growth, by providing resources, programs, and services that help individuals tap into their true selves, their Inner Voices and live more fulfilling and purposeful lives.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the OC – Laguna Beach. I would definitely spend a day exploring Crystal Cove beaches and eat at the Beachcomber restaurant down by the cottages (need to plan for this as reservations do fill up).
A second day would be the other side of pch and hiking trails that go back into the hills in Moro State Park. And eat at boat canyon – Asada for tacos and an interesting beer or cocktail.
Third Shopping downtown Laguna Beach is such a fun experience and eating at Zinc Cafe for brunch or lunch.
Fourth I would take a few days and drive up to LA and spend a day or two exploring museums – the Getty and its grounds.
And fifth explore then the Tar pits and Museum. And end the day up at Griffith observatory at night.
Sixth day shop around downtown LA or if they are up for it, attend the MOMA and If possible I’d try to book an event for us at the Disney concert hall like the symphony.
Finally day I’d end up out in Venice on Abbot Kinney for a day of unique shopping and to watch the sunset over the pacific.
For the LA days, I’d need the help of Yelp to find the best places to eat. Been a while since I lived up there. lol but I’m confident we would find amazing food to highlight each day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It is actually two amazing individuals:
Shauna Haider of We are Branch (whom I met in a brand strategist certification with Sarah Ashman) has been a constant source of inspiration for me. She is an entrepreneur who lives her life with purpose, guided by her Inner Voice. Shauna’s alignment of her inner and outer selves is breathtaking and beautiful. She is not only my biggest influence and cheerleader but also a dear friend. Recently, we had a fantastic time as she assisted me with my new visual brand strategy and logo identity. I am excited to share it with the world in early 2024.
Lastly, davidji, my meditation certification teacher, has a wealth of knowledge about the lineage, history, types, and techniques of meditation, as well as knowing when to use each one. davidji helped me quiet my critical mind and racing thoughts, allowing me to hear my Inner Voice more clearly. I am immensely grateful because he helped me develop a love for meditation. This enabled me to establish a daily meditation practice, ensuring that my connection with my Inner world continues to deepen over the coming decades, equipped with the right tools and techniques to guide others on the same path. It is a great gift that aligns with my true purpose of helping others find and connect with their own Inner Voices
