We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizeth Sandoval and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lizeth, how does your business help the community?
Historically, we have seen several times when students with learning challenges are marginalized because they are not learning the same way as neurotypical children. We have also seen limited support for Spanish-speaking families who need additional help in understanding their child’s learner profile. At Blossom Educational Therapy, we focus on supporting these students in understanding who they are and how they learn. We understand that not all children learn the same, and we celebrate everyone’s unique skills and talents.

Our services support students with learning differences, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, and processing challenges. We focus on helping children and young adults understand what works for them and supporting them in learning how to advocate for themselves. This is important for us to support the community because we want to bring more awareness to reading difficulties, support families with understanding their children and strengthen their relationships. We aim to keep the community understanding and to value each child for their unique talents.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Before becoming an Educational Therapist, I was a Special Education teacher. While teaching, I noticed that I had some students who were not academically progressing. I became curious about why and how I could shift my approach to education to meet my students’ needs better. I began reading and researching how to support students in my classroom and even started taking classes at CSUN. As I started this journey, I realized I wanted to focus on helping students understand how they learn. I knew that I enjoyed working one-on-one with students because I got to see their personalities blossom and understand more of who they were. I also enjoyed talking to Spanish-speaking families, helping them better understand the education system, and providing resources for them. This led me to Educational Therapy; when I decided that I wanted to go into Educational Therapy, I knew exactly that I wanted to work with students and their families. However, I had to learn the business side of things which took a while and a lot of support. That was the most challenging thing. But overcoming that challenge of not knowing anything about the business, I realize that when you are unsure of something, it’s okay to ask for help! There are people out there who are willing to support and help you.

At Blossom Educational Therapy, we provide one-on-one academic intervention for students with learning differences. Using a therapeutical approach to deliver intensive, ongoing, and individualized instruction for individuals to support them in unlocking their full potential! We work with students and provide them with developing skills that benefit their learner profile.
We also pride ourselves in supporting Spanish-speaking families and, interpreting reports and assessments, and providing services in Spanish for students and families. Our goal is to motivate students to discover their inner strengths and abilities and find their passion. We aim to provide a fun and engaging learning environment that fosters confidence.
