We had the good fortune of connecting with LOLITA CHRISTIAN and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LOLITA, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?

I recall being told as a child that the creative more unconventional career choices I had weren’t financially feasible. I was very intrigued by interior design, art, creative writing, & fashion design; however I was strongly discouraged from attending college for these things. Instead I opted for what I was told by elders, which was more conventional and it was a degree in psychology with a criminal justice career. The advice was horrible. I wholeheartedly believe you should pursue your passion in your career choices and you’ll never truly feel like you’re working. If you love what you do, even on the days it’s not easy you’ll have fulfillment and you will find a way to make it profitable.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am an artist turned author. I’ve recently published my book Supernatural Weight Loss. It’s a very true to life book that was divinely inspired about my own personal health and weight loss journey wherein I’ve lost 60 lbs of unhealthy weight. It’s available on Amazon. I share my method by accompanying the reader as a friend, so that they too can have a successful health transformation like myself. I wrote this book because I was a Type II Diabetic, imbalanced hormonal levels, chronically ill & now I am no longer diabetic, no longer have chronic digestive issues, hormonal imbalances or migraines, and it is very important to me that I use the wisdom God has given me in my own health journey to help other women who may have given up on their own best health or weight loss goals. Health is wealth as I once heard and I’d like to help other women attain it without the burden of deprivation diets or overly strenuous exercise routines. In my book Supernatural Weight Loss readers will learn how to meet health goals without the pressure or the grief, it’s a game changer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If I had a friend visiting the area I’d definitely swing by Comfort LA to grab some delicious soul food bites because I love their collard greens and yams. Then I’d take them Universal Studios only because the kid in me will never get tired of a theme park. After a fun and exciting day at the theme park I’d definitely take my friend on a relaxing walk through the gardens at Huntington Library, then stroll along to view the art and library as well. Lastly I’d wrap it all up like a true foodie at Fixins Soul Kitchen so that my guest could try their heavenly chicken & waffles.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mother Cathy, who is so supportive of my decisions and without judgement. She immediately became my biggest cheerleader when I left my conventional career to start an unconventional business in the creative realm. My mom deserves all of her flowers.
