Meet Loren Hogue | Co-CEO of NEUROFIT

We had the good fortune of connecting with Loren Hogue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Loren, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
The idea that you can simply “change your mindset” is fundamentally flawed for most people in this day and age of chronic stress. 80% of our nervous system carries information from the body to the brain, not the other way around. This means true transformation isn’t about positive thinking and mindset alone, but about understanding and regulating your nervous system through embodiment (body-based) practices.
Simply put, “the body leads, and the mind follows” is a much more accurate representation of what healing truly requires.
My own 13 year journey searching for holistic solutions to my mental and physical challenges following my dad’s passing in 2011 led me to this very answer. For years I was suffering from anxiety, gut issues and sleep issues. I was burnt out, dissociated from my body, dealing with chronic pain and riding an emotional rollercoaster daily.
After spending tens of thousands of dollars on various healing modalities (ranging from therapy to seeing a shaman in Peru!) I finally stumbled upon nervous system regulation and somatics and it changed my life.
When I dug deeper, I realized there was no comprehensive, user-friendly tool to help people understand and optimize their nervous system and reduce built-up stress effectively. This led me to launching NEUROFIT (https://neurofit.app) in 2022 with my husband, a nervous system and body-based solution to stress and burnout that is both highly effective and accessible.
Wellness is profoundly simple when you understand your body’s innate intelligence. Our bodies know how to heal – they just need the right inputs and support.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my own businesses out of personal necessity. I spent years searching for holistic solutions to my mental and physical challenges following my dad’s passing in 2011, and that journey led me to quitting my job as a burnt out lawyer and starting my business as a life and business coach in 2017.
That business was part of the reason I originally moved to Los Angeles. It gave me the opportunity to work with thousands of clients around the world, and gave me a unique insight into what challenges us most as humans in life and business.
Despite my own success as a coach, I still found myself struggling emotionally and mentally, especially as my business scaled rapidly and I took on more work as a solo founder. I was investing almost every dollar I made back into my business to the tune of hundreds of thousands because I felt that I still hadn’t found the answers to the challenges my clients and I were facing.
It was both incredibly frustrating and painful to feel as though the answers I was seeking didn’t exist. I was hiring expensive mentors, testing new modalities with little results until I stumbled upon somatics and nervous system regulation. Within my first few sessions of this work, I began to feel drastically better and it’s this work, funnily enough, that also led me to meeting my future husband, a tech entrepreneur experiencing his own mental health challenges from unresolved childhood C-PTSD.
In 2021, I stepped away from my coaching business and joined forces with my husband to build a tech-enabled and data-driven solution to resolving chronic stress and burnout. We were both tired of the expensive and ineffective solutions we had encountered while trying to heal ourselves and saw that chronic stress was becoming increasingly more prevalent following COVID.
This led us to launching the world’s leading nervous system + stress reduction app, NEUROFIT. On average, active users report 54% less stress in just 1 week.
We poured all of our life savings into launching this business and despite countless challenges along the way, we’ve been going from strength to strength, with over 60,000 people having now used our product to date.
There’s one thing I wish I had known when I set out on the entrepreneurial journey all of those years ago: there’s nothing “wrong” with you, you just have a dysregulated nervous system due to long years of stress and trauma. Solve that, and the rest of your life and business will fall into place…and life will get really fun!
And this is what I want other creatives and entrepreneurs to know – you get to feel really great in your mind, body and soul – and it all starts by regulating your nervous system so that the body can heal and handle all of life’s challenges (and adventures!).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I’m spending the week in LA with my bestie, I’d take her to a few of my favorite places including:
– Stay at the Beverly Hills hotel, hike in Franklin Canyon park and then visit the Greystone Mansion
– Spend a morning shopping along Melrose Place (I love Zimmerman) and in Beverly Hills before afternoon tea at the Peninsula and finishing up with a skin facial at Melanie Grant
– Spend an afternoon/evening at Soho House in downtown LA and watch the sunset from their rooftop
– Grab a smoothie at Erewhon Santa Monica and then lunch at the Santa Monica Proper by the pool followed by an arurvedic massage at Surya Spa
– Head to a surf beach in Malibu like Zuma Beach followed by a visit at the Getty Villa and then dinner at Nobu Malibu
I’d take day trips up to Santa Barbara and down to Laguna Beach so we’d get to drive along the beautiful California coastline.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I really love people that push the boundaries and limits of human potential and innovation that are constantly questioning the status quo. Far from considering these people controversial, I admire them. It takes a lot of courage and conviction to step outside conventional norms, and to be a contrarian for long periods of time before others catch up to your vision.
One of those people is my husband so this shoutout goes to him. His relentless pursuit of the truth and his integrity has been immensely healing for me these past 3 years. Through observing him and how he builds, operates and loves, I’ve learnt a lot about purpose, faith and what’s truly required to succeed (in all definitions of the word).
