We had the good fortune of connecting with Lovely Laban and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lovely, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Skin by Lovely was about creating a place where people could reconnect with themselves and ignite self-love through personalized aesthetic care. While working as an aesthetic laser nurse while obtaining my Master’s in Gerontology, I quickly fell in love with the way aesthetic treatments could transform not just appearances but also confidence and self-worth. I wanted to build a space where patients could feel supported, listened to, and empowered to take care of themselves. Skin by Lovely was born from this vision, a practice focused on specialized injectable treatments with patient satisfaction at its core. It has always been about helping people feel their best, inside and out.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Skin by Lovely, we focus on more than just enhancing appearances; we aim to empower individuals and ignite self-love. Our mission is rooted in the philosophy of ‘celebrating individuality.’ We believe that everyone’s unique beauty should be celebrated, and every patient who walks through our doors is treated with care, ensuring they feel seen and valued for who they are.

Another core value of ours is ‘making a difference.’ Beyond aesthetics, making a difference has always been at the heart of Skin by Lovely. We diligently foster meaningful relationships with local charities, collaborating closely to support their important work.

Professionally, we’ve worked hard to redefine what patient care looks like in aesthetics. We dedicate every day to ensuring our patients feel their best from the moment they enter our offices. Clean and calming interior design, the music we play, welcoming staff, our commitment to education, and our ‘undetectable injectables’ technique all play a role. We focus on every detail to ensure that each patient experience is truly five-star.

The journey to where we are today wasn’t always easy. It took perseverance, passion, and learning from our challenges to build a trusted and respected practice. Over time, I’ve learned that staying true to our values in patient care and community impact has been key to overcoming obstacles.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, I love this question! Santa Monica is such a vibrant place. I would start with some self-care at Corrective Skincare for a rejuvenating medical facial. Then, we would head over to The Butcher’s Daughter on Abbot Kinney for a healthy plant-based brunch. Brentwood Country Mart is another favorite spot of mine. I could easily spend hours exploring the shops. A day by the beach would be a must, maybe at Paradise Cove in Malibu, followed by some relaxation and history at the Annenberg Community Beach House. For the evening, we would catch the sunset at Casa Del Mar happy hour or enjoy drinks at a rooftop bar like Élephante. I would also make sure to take in the arts at Bergamot Station and go for a hike along the Los Liones trail for stunning views. Santa Monica offers the perfect blend of beauty, wellness, and vibrant energy, making it ideal for an unforgettable trip.

Absolutely! I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to my family, especially my husband Jake, whose expertise and support have been crucial in building Skin by Lovely. I am also incredibly thankful for my wonderful team, who show up every day with passion and dedication. Their energy and commitment are the heartbeat of Skin by Lovely. Additionally, I would like to recognize my mentors in the aesthetics field who provided invaluable training and guidance throughout my journey. Finally, our patients, who are at the core of everything we do. I am so grateful for their trust and loyalty.
