Meet Lucie Ayres | Principal Designer, 22 Interiors

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucie Ayres and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lucie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Outsiders might not be aware of the vast number of decisions and details that need to be made to create a complete design – whether it’s a bathroom or a board room.
Interior designers often have both right side and left side of the brain strength – we have to be creative, yes, however we also very much need to solve a puzzle that is a space plan and think about the very practical use of each room in order to create a cohesive, useable room. In each of these rooms, we then need to design and define all the details like flooring, lighting, furnishings, window treatments, wall treatments, doors, windows, window treatments, art and accessories. There are many layers in a well-designed space!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full service residential and commercial interior design agency, with offices in Los Angeles and the Hamptons, NY.
Our style is a hybrid of soulful European meets playful Californian – comfortable, curated, and inspired. We love color, art, and the details that make a space feel unique. We’ve learned that being hyper-organized, efficient, and communicative with our client creates trust and a more enjoyable process.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Point Dume in Malibu for a hike followed by lunch at Zinque, Malibu. Getty Museum for Sunset followed by dinner at Soho House West Hollywood.
Bike ride from Santa Monica pier to Venice and back followed by lunch at Casa del Mar.
(not sure this is the most interesting or exciting but it’s what I love)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Christopher who has helped encourage me throughout each year of the business and has always believed in 22 Interiors growing success.
