Meet Lucy Smith | Face Painter & Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucy Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lucy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I need to create to live. As cliche and melodramatic as that sounds, it makes perfect sense when you consider all the factors of my upbringing and my mental health struggles. I enjoy telling stories and eliciting emotion from viewers/readers of my work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m all about passion and excitement! I love getting a positive reaction from what I paint on guests at parties, especially when the kids first see themselves in the mirror. I put my heart and soul into my work. If you’re passionate and excited about your work, it will show, and the subsequent effect on others is positively enchanting.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take them to a figure drawing event at Valley Art Workshop or a drink & draw with the Gallery Girls. Then we’d make a customizable latte at Red Maple Cafe in Toluca Lake, explore the San Gabriel Valley for excellent Chinese food, and chill at The Snug in Burbank for a beer. Maybe if we’re not too tired, we’ll go to Open Dyke Night at Tramp Stamp Granny’s in Hollywood, play some crane games at Round 1 in Burbank, or Dockweiler Beach. Gotta stop at the Ugly Mug Cafe in Burbank for an iced latte first though!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dori Fostok from Party Business in northern Delaware was absolutely lovely to me as I was building my business back there in 2014-2015. Her kindness and creativity inspired me to consistently remember why I do this: the joy.
