We had the good fortune of connecting with Luke Pechmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luke, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking has always come pretty natural to me. To the point where most of my behavior and actions would be viewed as reckless. To me I consider it calculated recklessness.I think the biggest risk I took was choosing to move to California to train for the Olympics. Swimming is a sport that is not very financially rewarding and extremely time/energy consuming. But I went with my gut and couldn’t imagine my life without these experiences, challenges and connections made out here.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The main thing I’m working on is creating a template and questionnaire for my health/lifestyle clients can answer and follow so I can better assist them in achieving goals, calming their minds and bodies or even just sleeping better. I’m also working with three great startups to help them grow. Zzeal co. Is a wellness box and platform developed to bring people together around the common goal of wellness and wealth through health. I’m extremely excited about growing with this company and how we can change multiple industries with our approach. Another is called Colony in west LA. It’s a ghost kitchen concept and I think it is the future of dining. The third one is a blockchain art e commerce site. This is very new so stay tuned for updates! We’re going to help artists market, sell and get paid for their work!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When people come to visit me we usually hit the beach for a swim, surf, frisbee and some yoga. This is followed by some healthy Santa Monica or Venice cuisine. We will bike in Griffith park and check out a few cool bars in silverlake and Atwater Village. Then we will head to the Sierra Nevada’s for an epic camping trip where we backpack, hunt, or fish and I cook spectacular meals over an open flame under the stars. We will also hit a hot springs and check out joshua tree if there is time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First I’d have to shoutout my parents and family for supporting me and believing in me from a young age. Second I’d say Anthony Robbins, Tim Ferriss and Ben Greenfield have had the biggest impact on my thinking and therefore my life. Their books, podcasts, and online education videos have been extremely influential in shaping how I live, think, feel, set goals and experience the world. I’d also like to thank Wilma Wong who took me into her family and provided me with mental performance training and helped me accomplish big goals in and out of the pool.
