We had the good fortune of connecting with Lulu Olguin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lulu, what inspires you?
Bandida Brand is a Streetwear Brand based in LA Inspired in Fashion, Music and Art.

Bandida Brand is a clothing line of unique pieces and wearable hand painted art and custom made, including a collection of reworked t-shirts, dresses, jackets, hoodies, and other clothing and accessories for men and women inspired in Fashion, Music and Art, all made by me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m so proud of how far Bandida Brand has come. I feel so exited when I see people happily wearing one of my designs, and expressing their love for my work. That makes me feel so proud and it just feels amazing!

I think consistency it’s what have brought me where I’m today personally and professionally.
Being consistent is not easy, you have to work hard and go through challenges but when you see the good results it gives you motivation and makes you work harder.

There have been sometimes where things didn’t come up how I wanted to, because the time and energy I spent working on a new design or a project wasn’t what I’ve planned, or the budget was not enough, and it didn’t give the results that were expected… And it kind of made me feel like I wasted my time…
But then I realized I didn’t waste my time, because at the end of the day I enjoy what I do, and after all I looked at all the positive things I got and learned from those experiences, like building new relationships, it opened new doors to share my work, and now I know how to get more prepare, how to be more selective when making decisions in starting a new design, a new project and or working in a new collaboration.

The most important lesson I learned is that sometimes is better to say “no”.
Even though I wish I could say yes to every single request, because I want to take all the opportunities to share my work, but if I Iack of time and energy to fulfill the request, If It doesn’t contribute with my personal and professional goals and or it goes against my values the best option is to say no.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever a friend or family comes to visit, I show them the places I usually go to, and invite them to do activities that I do, like going for a hike to the Griffith Park, and going for a walk or ride a bike by the beach from Santa Monica to Venice beach, where you can enjoy street performances, check out the shops, bars and restaurants, and you can go any time on any day of the week.

Another place I would take them is LACMA, you can visit the museum, and then enjoy free live Jazz music on Friday evenings, while having a picnic in the grass. All you need to do is bring your blanket, food, drinks and enjoy.

And lastly I would take them to have dinner to a nice Mexican Restaurant with Live Music.
One of restaurants that I have visited lately and I love it, is Añejo Cantina & Grill located in Sherman Oaks. This restaurant has good food and live music, and it’s family friendly.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Shoutout to all those Artists supporting other Artists, fashion designers, stylists and Singers supporting and lifting each other.

Bandida Brand has received a lot of support from Artists and Fashion Stylists being invited to collaborations in their music videos and projects.

Being involved in collaborations and connecting with other Artists to share a common vision to work together and promote each other’s work have a been a very important part of my journey.

I feel so much love and respect for all those artists I have collaborated with, and can’t wait to work with more other Artists to keep supporting and lifting each other !
