We had the good fortune of connecting with Lumen Wealth Group Lumen Wealth Group and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lumen Wealth Group, what do you attribute your success to?
The core of our success comes from truly embracing what it means to be a fiduciary. While the textbook definition—acting in the best interest of the client—may sound like enticing words for a prospective client to hear, for us it’s so much more than words. It’s about building genuine connection, trust, and understanding—because that’s how you uncover a client’s unique definition of ‘best interest.’ Clients aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet; they’re people with stories, goals, and dreams. Like any meaningful relationship—personal or professional—connection begins with communication, and when you truly listen, you gain understanding. Today, our growth is driven almost entirely by word-of-mouth referrals. Clients sharing their experiences with friends and family is the highest compliment—and a powerful reminder that strong relationships, not just numbers, are what truly drive success.”

What should our readers know about your business?
Lumen Wealth Group was founded in 2017 when advisors Julia Wiss and Christopher Campbell left their respective brokerages to build something from the ground up—an independent practice rooted in integrity and a client-first philosophy. We chose to align with Raymond James because it fosters independence for practices like ours and provides a research-driven platform without proprietary funds, allowing us to focus solely on what’s best for our clients.
Although Raymond James is a known name in the wealth management space, starting an independent practice from scratch still wasn’t easy. Building trust and awareness in an already crowded industry came with challenges, but we overcame them by staying true to our core principle: listen first, act second. That approach taught us a valuable lesson—authenticity and consistency aren’t just ideals; they’re the foundation of lasting success.
If there’s one thing we want the world to know about Lumen, it’s that we’re not just advisors; we’re partners in your journey. Our story is about connection, trust, and helping people feel confident about their financial future. Numbers matter, but relationships matter more—and that’s what drives everything we do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re from Los Angeles, you know the food scene is where the magic happens. Sure, we have Michelin-starred icons like n/naka and Providence, but sometimes the real treasures are often the hole-in-the-wall gems you discover through word-of-mouth or simply stumbling upon them. I’d let the food guide the itinerary because it’ll take you across the city in the best way possible.
For a very “LA Day”, I’d start on the Westside with brunch at Gjusta in Venice, then stroll Abbot Kinney for boutique shopping and grab a craft beer at Firestone Walker Brewing or The Venice Ale House. Afterward, walk along Venice Beach or head up to Malibu for ocean views and dinner at Duke’s – where you can sit on their patio that has glass walls the ocean waves literally crash on.
Another day, dive into Downtown LA for the weekend Thai Night Markets where you can snack on mango sticky rice, noodles, beef sticks, and boba! And if you want to catch a skyline view of the city at sunset, you can finish with cocktails at Perch for rooftop views.
For outdoor lovers, hike Runyon Canyon for sweeping city views or take the Temescal Canyon trail for ocean vistas. If you want something iconic, drive up to Griffith Observatory for sunset over the skyline.
LA is all about mixing flavors, neighborhoods, and experiences—great food, stunning views, and a little adventure make for the ultimate week.
