We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynda Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lynda, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a small business owner, I have collaborators, assistants and contractors that support me on my projects and the required technical tasks. On the daily, it’s all me, putting in the hours to create a foundation for the larger message, brand, and most importantly, compassionate service that the community/world needs. First and foremost, this means: Focusing on my own personal development, alignment and mental health. As leaders, educators, professional coaches and trainers, our own self care and mental health must be our priority (put on your own masks first, before attempting to help others). The clarity, integrity and connection that comes from self awareness and boundary setting, allows for balanced, steady and authentic leadership. This first step is how we help each other and the world at large…

Additionally, I formed a nonprofit in late 2017; ‘The Magic of Psalm’ is an educational nonprofit that delivers comprehensive SexEd and EQ training to HS students, survivors and the community. Helping to educate and end sexual violence, assault and trauma is a mission of mine, 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. A majority of child victims are 12-17. Of victims under the age of 18: 34% of victims of sexual assault and rape are under age 12, and 66% of victims of sexual assault and rape are age 12-17 (RAINN website). This is terrifying and a real issue in our communities. Early education, EQ and empowerment training will better equip individuals with the tools and awareness to avoid dangerous situations and possible exploitation. My business at Lynda Nguyen Media Inc has funded these early years.

My role as a Professional Coach and my work in the community, serving, somehow, feels all and the same… We help the community by being as present and embodied as we can, showing up (through our time or money). In general, a lot of the social issues that are often difficult or too taboo to talk about at the dinner table: Sex, Sexual Violence, Mental Health, Prison Reform, Addiction, Death, Grief, etc, are the most human, raw and transformative places. The most connection and impact can be made when courage, love and truth is brought to these conversations. That’s the direction I see myself and my business headed… Advocating for and helping the world, through creating space for education and solutions, as well as “freedom” through bold and compassionate truth-telling.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

An Executive, Leadership and Corporate Coach the last decade, I support teams, CEOs, leaders, etc., build more resiliency, emotional freedom, and clarity in their work and their life. Extensively trained in multiple modalities, I tap in and meet clients where they’re at — to help them shift their mindset, free themselves from limiting beliefs and reframe their narratives (to reach goals and successes). I’ve helped hundreds of high performing leaders increase communication, (EQ) Emotional Intelligence and Core Competency skills; meeting the bottom line by developing creative growth mindsets, collaborative approaches, improved cultures (inclusion and belonging), change management capacities and positive public relations.

Passionate about Psychology and the human experience, I’ve been trained in Kundalini and Tantra (in India and through KRI/Yoga Alliance), certified as a Professional Coach (also registered with HeartMath Institute). received my Masters in Medical Hypnotherapy, Masters in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), and also became a motivational Firewalking Instructor. Coaching individuals on the powers of shifting the mindset, increasing coherency, and managing their energy via Yoga and breath-work… I have worked with hundreds of men and women to lead in more conscious, congruent and connected ways.

Additionally, with my skills, as a Professional Coach, I’ve also been focusing on Women’s Empowerment and formed the nonprofit ‘The Magic of Psalm’ in 2017: A nonprofit that delivers Comprehensive Sex Ed, EQ and Empowerment training. Essentially, my work revolves around supporting people towards freedom and clarity.

This next year, I’m diving into more training (Law School) which will provide the extra channels to counsel and connect my clients within their business and leadership. This is also another step in creating the solutions and opportunities, I envision, that is needed in our world today. As leaders, investing in our personal development and continual education is a privilege we must use!!

How it all started? One afternoon, over a decade ago, I was laying strewn about on my bedroom floor — broken and unsure about what the future had in store. Perhaps, experiencing a quarter life crisis or my Saturn’s Return’, but that breakdown was my ultimate breakthrough. A lot of events transpired during those years, to, finally, break me OPEN. The greatest lesson learned was — after all of our perceived ‘failures’ or heartbreaks are accepted and forgiven (through sheer exhaustion, even)… We are FREE. Free, to REINVENT ourselves (free from identifications), to be REAL and present (and in this presence is absolute GRATITUDE). This is the FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP: An individual who is brave enough to be vulnerably human and to feel all the terrifying human things — so to come to a place of deep connection and limitless possibility. There’s this space inside all of us that contains infinite resources — intuition, will power, creativity, pleasure. connectedness, truth, purpose and leadership. Our ability to sit still, to visualize, breathe in and remember who we are (and who we’ve always been) is the one “practice” that will lift us up when life challenges us. Nothing is permanent, except these sources of power always within our reach. Let’s keep reaching for all that’s possible and remembering who we are…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course, my first ‘shout out’ goes to my parents, who fled Vietnam by boat (with 18 month old me) after the war. Their resilience and courage continues to move me! Their unconditional love has allowed me the connection and insight to keep growing and learning. My Mother, specifically, has been a rock and the epitome of Love’. My maternal grandmother, who transitioned a few years back, is also a source of wild bravery that I connect to. She has always encouraged my boldness, nudging me to play big. I have a deep well of love to tap into — whenever the challenges come my way.

My friends and lovers, past and present, deserve honoring, too. The genuine love shared, if only for a brief moment in time (all its shapes and forms) has informed and inspired most of my travel and growth. One of my dearest soul friends, who passed a few years ago, continues to breathe fire and heart in me — for my work as a professional coach (she was a masterful one, herself) and as the most vulnerable and realest kind of leader that I can be. Love is our greatest lesson.

Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention teachers, advisors, and mentors… Making dreams feel a lot more attainable through their living example and generosity. We cannot be what we cannot see. What’s been done, can be done again. We conceive what we perceive.
