We had the good fortune of connecting with Maclin Bilski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maclin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process is incredibly simple – There are highly sensitive people (HSP) in the world that are constantly overstimulated making it incredibly difficult for them to recognize their unique abilities. My company MIND promotes awareness of this special human condition and aims to provide products and experiences that reduce external stimulation and improve an HSP’s ability to create and live peacefully.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I’m most excited about is the layers of my own psyche I’ve discovered through my creative endeavors. I’ve played in almost every single medium and I’m in love with the process of self reflection and the projection of my internal state into a visible form.

I got to where I am by consistently putting effort into creation and a good bit of luck. No, it wasn’t easy and I’ve left a lot of things behind in order to get here. I overcame the “challenges” by recognizing that they are necessary road blocks that I need to clear away or hurdle over in order to get to the place I want to be.

I’ve learned so many lessons on the way but one of the most important is – you can’t see the forest through the trees. It might be dark and lonely on one part of the journey until one day you reach a clearing with a gathering of all your friends. Just keep walking.

I want the world to know that magic is real.

Another thing I’m working on at the moment is an app called “Exibit”. Consider it to be like the Spotify for visual arts. We’ve created the best mobile viewing experience for artwork and will be paying out streaming revenue similar to the Music industry. It’s going to be big!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in the city is Topanga, so I’d suggest we stay there. I’m a bit of an old soul and that little city is a perfect vantage point to get to all the little niches of LA that I’d want someone to see.

A drive through Hollywood is necessary – but just a drive. House shopping in Beverly Hills is fun. Definitely heading down to a secret beach in Malibu for an entire afternoon, The Comedy store has my vote for a guaranteed good time. Dinner in Venice is absolutely heavenly.

Other than that – just go with the flow! Something great is bound to come up 🙂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friend Blu, beautiful inside and out, has taken it upon herself to be a motherly figure to so many lost and abandoned souls as well as a personal soul-warrior trainer for even more. She is an inspiring figure to me and has brought brilliant light into my life
