We had the good fortune of connecting with Magaly Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Magaly, how do you think about risk?
I took a huge risk after quitting my 9-5 job to become a full-time content creator. It was not an easy decision since I was in the medical field and I was very stable with my job after being in the field for 4 years. It got to a point I was very stressed out because I was doing two jobs at the same time and big brands were reaching to work with me and I didn’t want to lose any of the opportunities. It took me 2 months to make my final decision to see what I wanted to do career wise. With the support of my manager, he has been great because I have been getting so many great brand deals and opportunities. I have been enjoying it so much that I know I didn’t make the wrong decision of quitting my 9-5 job and it has been 7 months since I quit my job.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been interested on social media, being creative and filming, but I never really pressure it until now. I was working as a medical assistant for 4 years and had a normal lifestyle, I guess you can say. After COVID hit TikTok started becoming popular, so I download it last year 2022 somewhere in March. I uploaded my first video at my job and it reached 4M views with 1M likes. I was very surprise because I was just doing my job as a MA and didn’t think of it too much. So I started uploading more video at my job and I notice I was starting to grow an audience so I knew I had to continue. I’ve always loved social media so I started taking online courses for digital marking and moved to LA to pressure digital marking career, but little did I know I became an influencer instead.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had friends or family visiting me I would take them to Malibu beach while having a picnic. I find Malibu really beautiful and peaceful. I think is a great place to just relax and catch up with you loved ones.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a lot of people who inspire me but my biggest motivation is my mom and my brothers. I want to make them proud and help them out. Everything I do is for my mom and hope I inspire my two youngest brothers to do something great in life and pressure their goals. They been so supportive an always showing love to what I do.
