We had the good fortune of connecting with Malaiye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malaiye, what matters most to you?
Something that matters most to me is intention. It’s a firm principle I follow, having intention behind my actions. Knowing the reason why I do the things I do, think the thoughts I think. It’s allowed me to get a better understanding of the control I have in my life. It’s important for me to be the one who consistently sets the tone for how I want my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

This past year I’ve been blessed with many great opportunities. I love entertainment and creating experiences. I’ve been able to work in the music industry as an executive’s assistant. To experience the transition COVID had in this industry was really informative. I have amazing leaders. I was able to learn how to ride the ‘waves of the unexpected’, understanding the importance of being able to adapt not only yourself, but your team to any situation. I also am a social media manager as well, I run and market accounts for companies I work closely with. Currently, my life has consisted of sets, self tapes, and schedules. Whenever my time becomes more open I pursue photography and multiple positions for productions from being a Production Assistant, AD, doing BTS photos for shoots, Studio Managing, etc.

Being able to work in the film industry more consistently has been a big win for me as well. Some of my most proud moments recently have been, working on the major network TV Show “All American”, and right now I am in production for my upcoming short film, “Deserve” that I wrote and produced. As well, I am currently co- producing/ audio engineering an upcoming scripted audio drama, “Mortuus Est”: Legacy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmm, as an LA native I love to see the beach. I don’t go on it too often, but I always make time to drive down PCH and make a quick stop to take in the beauty. Recently, I stopped by the restaurant Coast in Santa Monica for a work dinner with a view. Great wine.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to Richard Lawson Studios. This establishment has opened my perspective not just as an artist, but as an individual as well. Their Professional Development Program has helped me grow many stems, and continues to push me to new heights. Would also like to shout out Matrix Studios in DTLA, they’ve taught me so much about adaptability, and making visions reality. Lastly, I would like to give a shout out to my community. It’s important to have your tribe. I’m blessed to have them go so hard for me, and encourage me to be better each day. I only hope I am able to make them proud.
