Meet Malek Rahbani | Actor & Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Malek Rahbani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malek, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“There are those that see things as they are and say why, I dream things that never where and say why not.” “Robert Kennedy” Senator Kennedy said those words when the country was in turmoil and division was taking over. He dreamed of a better America, an America where our children would be proud of and gladly call home. He went to extreme length to protect that dream. You are the master of your life, the leader, the c.e.o , the decision maker. There will always naysayers, but as president Truman said “The buck stops here”. You have to make decisions that you’ve never imagined before. You have to go places, where others tremble. We only have one life. There is no reset button and we can start over. If we don’t make the best out of that life, then it’s wasted. Always look out for number one as I always say. You are number one. You are the most important person in the world to keep healthy in mind and body. Don’t deprive the world from what makes you exceptional. Never forget, you may be closer than you think… take the journey…

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an actor and a writer. I grew up in a family that has been working in the entertainment field since the 1950s. So you could say I was enveloped in that environment. At an early age I fell in love with movies and acting, and decided that I wanted to pursue that dream for the rest of my days. I was born and raised in Lebanon, and that’s where my journey began and some time later, my journey brought me to the greatest city in the world, the city of angels, Los Angeles. The move from home was tough; leaving my family and loved ones, and just diving into the unknown. That’s life you have to follow your dreams. Just take it, day by day, and everything will be alright. I have learned many stories and lessons along the way and am still learning everyday. If I had to choose one thing to tell you about. I think that would be patience and persistence. The PPs haha. Nothing comes easy, you just have to go, go, go. Be stubborn with your dreams and goals. One day you will look back and smile. Always remember… why not you?
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
lots and lots of amazing places in LA. Ok first we’d start with visiting all the film studios: Universal, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony, and wherever they welcome us in. As for restaurants: Elena’s in Glendale (Greek/Armenian) one of the best places for Kabob dishes in LA. Now if you’re craving Nashville style southern chicken, then Al’s Hot Chicken in Sherman Oaks is where you want to be. Allow me to go back to my roots and take you onto Sunnin a Lebanese restaurant in Westwood that gets you authentic Lebanese food made from the heart. Next flight we go to Emporium Thai also in Westwood, voted one of the best Thai restaurants in America; a quick shout out to John the owner. Hold the presses because we’re going to Pine and Crane a Taiwanese hip restaurant in Silver lake a treat for all youse out there. As for the evenings Craig’s and Bestia two of the best restaurants on Melrose and in Downtown art’s district. You can’t come to LA and not go to the beach and bake in the sunny sandy beaches of Santa Monica and Venice. For a movie night The Cinerama dome in Hollywood would be a stop for watching a film, hopefully when it opens again. Last but certainly not least a quick drive through Beverly Hills and a hike to the Hollywood sign. That’s how you get the LA experience along with so many other wondrous things to do and see!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I pray to God to put good people in your corner as he has in mine. I wouldn’t be here without the love and support of you my family and friends. My teachers even though I wasn’t the best student in school and my acting coaches I love you all. I regard teaching as one of the most noble of professions. I still have a long way in my journey, but I’m getting there with my faith in God and putting in the work. I’m trusting him to guide me, for he is the silent partner. His silence roars if we just listen. As Walt Disney once said :” If you can visualize it, if you can dream it. There’s some way to do it.” Believe In God, Love Your Family, and Live Your Dream…
