We had the good fortune of connecting with Manny Maldonado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Manny, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
My family and close friends have always supported me. They have been a driving force since day one. The industry I’m in is one of the toughest, but I welcome the challenge every day. I tend to never let any negativity ever invade my personal and professional life as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
“Que Paso” “Que Paso” Voyage Magazine. Thank you for following up on me I’ve been busy since u last interviewed me last year. I’ve been doing many comedy shows since the shutdown. I never really did the zoom comedy shows it wasn’t my cup of tea. I’ve been performing at many outdoor events. I’ve done many tent comedy shows, private shows, house parties, and indoor venues that allow live performances. I’m happy to announce Thursday June 24th 8pm I will be producing /performing my first comedy show at Bar Esquina Baja California Sur Mexico. The pandemic has taught me as well as other fellow stand up comics to step up our grind, and hustle. I have embraced the challenge, and I’m excited that California is finally opening up in June.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’m blessed to live by the beach here in Long Beach Ca. You really can’t go wrong here in the “LBC” The beach is amazing and your minutes away from the shoreline village and the aquarium. If it’s bars your into look no more and go to Belmont Shore on 2nd street. There is amazing restaurants bars, and shops. The best thrift /vintage stores are located on 4th street as well as Pacific Coast Highway.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give shout outs to Lee Vosburgh, Felipe, Rebelo, Carlos Miguelservin, Cesar Castillo, Julio Campos, Tania Meda, and the rest of the amazing staff at Bar Esquina in Cabo San Lucas.
