We had the good fortune of connecting with Marco Pelusi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marco, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where my family has had a chain of salons for over fifty years. My incredible good fortune growing up with this influencing me has definitely impacted my career today. My Uncle and my Dad are amazing role models!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My hair color artistry was originally fostered and developed with an Italian haircolor manufacturer where I had the privilege of working in-house. I was able to unleash my talent in an educated, focused way; they gave me a strong background in haircolor technique, and, I myself became a haircolor teacher. I have found that by doing haircolor, and, teaching haircolor, my skills strengthened throughout my career. Now, looking back, after having had good solid education, and being an educator myself, I have developed my own color and highlighting techniques, which I teach regularly at the major hair shows worldwide. Next year I plan to teach in Anaheim, Chicago, Orlando, and San Antonio. I typically have standing room only at these shows. I also was led to develop Marco Collagen Color Guard HairCare, the first and only complete line of collagen-based hair products. I enjoy manufacturing my own products – this is perhaps my biggest passion and true enjoyment! I’d love for everyone to explore marcopelusi.com to see what I have to offer!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start right in the area where my salon is located – the West Hollywood Design District. I’d eat lunch at Butcher’s Daughter, have a coffee at Alana’s (just next door to my studio), do dinner at Craig’s on Melrose. Then I’d be sure to take a quick drive into Beverly Hills and shop on Rodeo Drive, eat at Il Fornaio for some excellent Italian food, and explore! And I’d keep going West into Santa Monica and shop at the 3rd St Promenade and go out to the pier there. And then from there, take a ride up to Malibu to walk on the beach and to dine at Geoffrey’s in Malibu – literally seated at the water’s edge! Also there’s Crossroads – a very high end shopping center in Malibu – always a fun stop! If there’s time, maybe go up into the hills of Bel Air, and enjoy the Beverly Glen Shopping Center. The Beverly Glen deli is a must for brunch – and Fabrocini’s is a must for an excellent Italian dinner! Hope this gives just a little inspo for anyone visiting our area. And of course, stopping by Marco Pelusi Hair Studio for a blowout is a must, too!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my Dad. He is the kind of Dad that everyone would want. He has encouraged me in every single way possible throughout my life. He has been a lifeline for me. I don’t even think he realizes what an impact he has had in forming the person I am today. I’m so blessed to have had this support.
