We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcus, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
People are not paying for Marcus as a photographer, they are paying for Marcus the person to take there picture. So be you and show your personality and watch the outcome of any product change before your eyes.
In photography your ability to make the people are you comfortable is a superpower.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love the dark. I love how often we try and keep the dark away from the light because, we are scared of what may happen. I like to think my art explores a thin line.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m taking my guy to get some Honey Kettle chicken in Culver City, then we vibin at the Dime bar (when it’s open) off fairfax after that. The. Sweetchick !
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Tiana Dawson @tianajanine_photography. I owe my sanity to this women, who happens to be my older sister. Growing up the youngest of 5, Tiana and I had to be closer then our older siblings and we grew to love films and love dark humor and love the excitement of movies together. She also takes time to ask question about my mental health and my next step to greatness. She believes I can take it the top and she reminds me of that everyday.
