We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, why did you pursue a creative career?
I was frustrated working a 9 to 5 job, so I began to think, what do I want to do. So, I pursued a career in modeling, which led to acting, which led to improv, which led to standup comedy, which led to me producing my own comedy shows and short films. I wish I would have started all of this sooner, but all is well. It’s been a great ride.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is that I keep going. Everyone has had challenging times as an entertainer in LA. I wouldn’t be where I’m at now had I quit.

I’m most excited about where I am going. I’m raising the stakes higher in every area of my career. You get to new levels by doing new things to move everything forward.

I got to where I am today by taking advantage of opportunities by being prepared for them and having a good team around me.

Working in entertainment is not easy, but learning from mistakes and seeking wise advice from people further along than I am (on how to make changes and get better) always helps.

No one is going to give you anything. You are going to have to go out and get everything you want. Also, mapping, planning and strategizing for everything you are involved in is a must.

All of my entertainment projects are fun and are available for everyone to see.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The 1st place I would take anyone is anywhere I’m doing standup comedy or improv.

After this, I would take them to The Comedy Store or the Hollywood Improv.

If it’s a week long trip, we would definitely go see the Lakers and Dodgers.

Food wise, I prefer the restaurants in Beverly Hills and in West Hollywood (though there are other great places to eat as well).

Additionally, I love Santa Monica and walking along the ocean.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wanted to thank you to my family, friends, associates, teachers my employer and anyone else that has helped me along the way. No one gets anywhere in life without the help of others.
