We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Hood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Creating a Platform that is for Black, indigenous, and people of color. Owning something that was bigger than myself that represents groups of people that are always celebrated in the media. The biggest part of my dream is owning the studio that could rival a Warner Brothers NBC ABC but represented by the faces that are always given the opportunity. As a culture it seems that it’s always people of color have always been the leaders and cool culture but we’ve never owned any of it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve gotten to where I am today in business because I simply pay attention to everyone’s wins and losses. You don’t have to be the one to make the mistake to learn from it. The other side of that coin is if someone is successful I try to take a lesson out of their book and use what has worked for others that came before me. To be honest business is never going to be easy but that’s what I enjoy about it everyday you find a new challenge to overcome. And with those challenges you’re able to add different tools to your belt that you can help other people succeed with and able to pass down the knowledge. Two of the biggest adversities that I’ve been challenged by are the fact that there will be a lot of people that don’t believe in you but you just have to keep steady at what your focused on accomplishing. The second challenge being finding ways to replicate who You Are as a business person by adding individuals that are hopefully more talented than you are in certain areas but also see your vision the same way. What I would want the world to know about relative Vision TV & Media is that we are built by real people that enjoy educating others by telling important stories from history and creating new stories that will shape the youth. We’re here to serve our communities through a visual art process that will last the test of time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Specifically I would love to thank my family for raising me with such a positive upbringing. And beyond my family I could thank anyone that I’ve crossed paths with that has taught me the smallest of lessons that I was able to utilize to push myself forward. I’m thankful and grateful for the many people that I’ve crossed paths with that have played a major part in showing me what success looks like even and especially what failure looks like.
