Meet Margarita Payne | Balloon Stylist/ Event Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Margarita Payne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Margarita, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Mexico and came here at a very young age. I grew up in Orange County with 8 other siblings. My dad was a single father and raised me my whole life so my upbringing was very different than most. I had so much fun as a kid my dad definitely always made sure we had everything we needed he has so much to do with the person I am today, seeing him work so hard to give us the world gave me the confidence and drive to follow my dreams. I knew if he can do it I could too.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, where do I start I”‘m so lucky to say that I’m in an industry where I get to help people celebrate some of their most precious moments from weddings, baby showers, and birthday parties the list can really go on. I really started doing this at a young age I loved being organized and making a space look nice I started to help decorate mostly family parties and really when I became a stepmom I loved focusing on the small details. I would always get asked who decorated and of course, I said I did and really the rest is history I slowly started investing in small sweets table props and I used to make paper flowers by hand obviously now we have Cricut for that but that’s how long I’ve been in the industry. So when people ask me did it happen overnight the answer is no I’ve made mistakes I had to rebrand myself I had to learn new things such as balloon decor which I never imagined working in. I started really gaining my following threw tik tok where I would show people how to decorate from home with my tip of the day and this really helped me grow especially during covid my true love was in teaching and my post really put me on the map as a balloon instructor which is probably one of my biggest accomplishments some times I cannot believe people want to learn from me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well most people who follow me, know I’m a foodie I love trying different cuisines I always say food can really bring people together. A fun weekend for me would consist of some Mexican food from tequila jacks with my family right on the water in Shoreline Village then some bowling with the kids. My husband and I really value a strong faith so whenever god permits we go to our church Cotton Wood on Sunday mornings then we usually have Sunday dinner at home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely love to give a massive shoutout to my husband Charles he was my first investor even now I can see him saying you made this happen by yourself self but in reality, he has been my backbone threw it all. I don’t think we talk about this enough but he really always cheered me on and has always congratulated me on every success or milestone from the smallest to the biggest. he believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself and I think all my small business owners know what I’m talking about. He pushes me and continues to remind me that I can do anything but most importantly he always keeps me going down the right path and makes sure I stay on it.
